disappointed! Set up via the web site on WiFi, print quality is very poor and blurry, did the deep nozzle clean and print head alignment could not evan print the alignment page without getting an error code of 5100 consistently. Wasted so much paper trying to fix the blurry unreadable document. Consistent paper jamming. Removed the cartridges and reinstalled them thought this might be the issue no way just more frustration. Deleted the printer from the laptop and reinstall as USB connection no difference in quality and error codes and paper jamming after 3 hours of my life gone I packed it up and taking it back for another brand.

Cons: Much noisier than our previous 12yo Brother Printer. Wifi connection drops out after being switched off for a while needing inconvenient reconnection. Shows that Wifi connection is not strong even though it is less than 2 meters away from the router. Seems to do a lot of thinking before it prints, and that "thinking" is, again, loud! Reasonbly sized windows showing how much ink is left in each ink tank but very hard to see the levels...at this price they should have been back lit! Conclusion: I was not to know before purchasing, but it isn't the most ideal printer. However, you do pay extra for this printer, NOT because it is a premium product....it is because CANON are recouping more money from your pocket due to the fact they aren't ripping you off for old style print cartridges anymore. So in conclusion, we just have to live with this printer as it is.

I've only had this printer for about 6 months and when printing in a better quality setting, the picture comes out a mess with ink blurring. I've cleaned the nozzles and done all the maintenance recommended, but it's still awful. At standard print settings, the image is sharper, but there just isn't any "oomph" in the colours or contrast. Time to put this one on Gumtree and upgrade to something that actually PRINTS colour images properly!

only used the printer on 4 occasions (all special family events) over the past few years and now we get a constant message on the screen saying "Ink cartridge empty -install a new cartridge", even when we've just installed a brand new one. It appears that it maybe a common fault, as there a several YouTube clips for electronics handy people to fix the problem (a loose cog that is meant to pull the ink across the paper??). We are very disappointed, as we trusted the quality of Canon, and having it fixed by Canon costs more than a new printer. UPDATE - it turns out it was the cartridge set that was faulty (including the same batch numbers of brand new ones on the shelf in the camera store). The Camera House, where I had purchased this cartridge and the printer, were beyond helpful and looked after sending back the faulty ones and replacing them with new ones. The printer itself is reliable and great quality - hence the update of the review.

handles glossy 300GSM cardstock. I love that it handles sticker paper and vellum without jams. (use the rear feeder) I had some trouble keeping all 3 of them connected via wifi. I then used USB cables instead. Sometimes they would still disconnect / not recognise. I then upgraded my computer (more RAM and better CPU) and installed the proper canon software for adding printers, and added each printer with that. That has helped and the printers have not disconnected since then. I use a 4th Canon (different model) and all 4 Canons can print simultaneously with no issue. I had some issues with ink being printed on the corners of pages for a while. I did all the usual cleaning and maintenance but it did not help. I contacted Canon and they made me do some troubleshooting with them, but again the issue did not resolve. So they sent me a replacement. I love this printer a lot and recommend it frequently.

it to connect over the LAN. Luckily, I have a suitable physical cable (from my old Epson) and used that for connecting my PC directly to the printer. Note that Canon does NOT supply such a cable with the printer. 2) The printer regularly throws error messages saying that ink is not valid, and that the cartridge needs to be changed. This is probably because I purchased some third-party ink from the supplier of the printer. The ink prints well enough but Canon obviously does not like users buying cheaper ink. 3) The third problem is a lack of enough physical space for a man with large hands to be able to remove and replace the cartridges. (Luckily, my wife has petite hands !)
Now, after five weeks, the printer will not recognise new replacement cartridges - either new third-party cartridges or new Canon cartridges, and I will be sending it back to the supplier tomorrow
I recommend that you do not buy this model from Canon, and you think twice about buying any make of printer from them.

have sorted out some of the early problems by now so let's see. The reason I purchased this was to replace my Epson 8700 ,still on warranty but now in the bin with the red lid. I believe that Epson, in an update may have rendered this useless as I was using third party inks , and at this point I was fed up with Battling with the printer .
So, I went back to Canon.
I have had plenty of printers over the years a 9000 and a 9500 recently a 8760 and a PRO 10 all from Canon, all at some stage drove me to despair and the raw cost of ink was getting out of hand . Enter the G660 , I nearly went back to a 1500 from Epson, then realized it was ink carts and I did want to go through that mess again, Ilooked at the Epson 8500 EcoTank but it cost an extra $280 so made little sense. The thing that sold me on this was. 6 Ink tanks I could replace the print heads for around $86.00 I could replace the maintenance tray for $15.00 In other words I was saving money . Now, I still have my Epson ET4850 for scanning and document printing , so this one will be for photos only. I had a number of photos printed on my pro machines and had a ready made comparison of the prints. To be honest I could not tell the difference, the prints on this are superb.
Colour accuracy is almost spot on and I have included a comparison of three test photos , the top one from the Epson 4850, showing a fog over the print and lightness in the black , the second , from the Epson 8700 showing a golden suntan to the print, which , using Epson's ICC profiles was disturbing ,it should be more accurate than this. The last from the G660 using Canon supplied profiles ,in this case the Photo Gloss 2 which rendered near perfect. I did try the fine art profile on some photo rag in letter size I have from Hahnemuhler using a profile they supply for the pro 200 and it was better than the canned profile for fine art paper supplied by Canon, also a Semigloss 8X10 from Canon using a Canon profile which turned in the most accurate result in the colours rendered.
Also, one photo sitting next to my monitor to show the accuracy in the colour print, although I had to deal with reflections and pixels to do that, but you get the idea, it's pretty good and that was printed on Canon Pro Platinum Gloss using the Photo Paper Plus Gloss 2 profile.. A couple of things here, there are no bells and whistles on this printer, the scanner is just Ok and the speed is slow. None the less I am printing photos , so for me it's perfect. I will not use third party inks on this , the cost difference is around $50.00 but spread over the claimed 3,800 4X6 it is a drop in the ocean . I reminded myself that the printer came with a full set of Ink tanks ,that in itself will cost you around $150.00 , but as I said that's a lot of years without buying ink. Printer resolution is 4800X1200 dpi with2304 nozzles, it has one back tray for all paper and the paper exits at the front, which means it is a straight feed so the paper is not going through a bend to get to the printer heads of which there are two. We also have one USB port if you want to connect the printer via cable but the WIFI (2.4ghz)did not give me any hassles this time round and connected to the computer alongside it with two attempts and the computer in the back of my house at the first attempt. Connecting to a smartphone , your required to download the app and it worked straight away. Just remember to set your country and area in the dialogue box during setup as I think this was the reason it did not connect first go. You can also download software with the link provided by Canon in the setup. The printer should be registered and you get access to the online support setup and One year full replacement warranty. At this point a highly recommended printer , with the majority of maintenance in the hands of the buyer with a low cost , and if your like me you will buy the replacement print heads and the maintenance tray now rather than wait a few years when you will probably pay double. Mind you I would not buy any extra ink for this until needed .

either. Really better off sticking to a budget printer for forms and then outsourcing printing on photos and brochures. Scanning is fine. Other issue is that both computer and printer need to be restarted between each print job, which is insanely inefficient. This is the advice from Canon customer support themselves. and wildlife for her art. Over the years, we've had a plethora of film cameras, digitals and bridge cameras that were good but not top quality. Even the excellent camera in the modern phone could not compare to a modern digital camera for picture quality. A friend loaned to us their Nikon P950 bridge camera to try out. It was a nice camera to use with pretty good picture quality but it had some minor limitations and lower picture quality than we really needed. When we were seriously looking at a new camera to buy for wildlife photography, it came down to a toss up between the Nikon P1100 bridge camera and the Canon EOS R50 mirrorless DSLR. After careful consideration, we chose the Canon. The choice was determined by two factors. #1. The Nikon had a smaller sensor with lower picture quality, has less low light capability, is heavy and was also not immediately available at any local stores and, #2. The Canon was cheaper, has a bigger sensor for better picture quality and is much, much lighter and we could have it right away. The Nikon has 16MP sensor and an impressive 125x optical zoom, equivalent to 24-3000mm and ease of use with no lens changes to worry about. However, the Nikon has a lot of glass and mechanical stuff in that lens casing and is heavy at 1.5kg. That's a lot of weight to carry all the time. The Canon on the other hand has 24MP sensor, it is much lighter than the Nikon. The body alone weighs only 380g and only 529g with the 18-45mm lens attached. It has a bigger APS-C sensor which is over 11x larger than the sensor in the P1100 and with much better low light capability than the Nikon. The Canon came as a 2 lens bundle with 18-45mm (152g) and 55-210mm (310g) lenses. For super long distance shots, I purchased an f11 600mm (940g) prime lens to go with it. Having the interchangeable lenses is a bit of a pfaff when you want to change focal length quickly but it also means that the camera is not heavy all the time. The EOS R50 with the 'huge' 600mm prime weighs 1.3kg vs 1.5kg for the Nikon. With the Canon, we need a carry bag with enough storage space for the camera body and the lenses. This makes the bag a bit bulky. The Nikon is much more compact and has a much smaller bag. I can't comment on the Nikon performance because we haven't used it, so I shan't; but after owning the Canon for a few months now, we have explored most of the many features and functions. Having owned a few "instamatic" and bridge cameras before, this one leaves the others in it's wake. It's by no means the 'Rolls Royce' of cameras, in fact it is a Canon 'entry level' camera. It is a mirrorless camera meaning that unlike an SLR camera, there's no mechanical gizmo to flip a mirror out of the way each time you press the shutter button. This makes it less complicated and lighter too with a longer life due to less mechanical gubbins' to wear out or go wrong. The view finder image is an LCD image from the sensor and not an optical path through the lens but it is still excellent. THE GOOD STUFF: This camera with all it's functions and quality is IMHO best bang-for-buck. It's perfect for a beginner or budget conscious person but with most of the features the more professional cameras have to offer rolled up in a compact package. It has some other nifty feature too, like the wireless connection to your phone or computer to download images. You can also control the camera hands-free from your phone. The image quality is very good and the lenses are easy to change. There is a viewfinder and a fully articulated 'touch screen' LCD display. There is a built-in flash and a 'hot foot' too. I have tried the time lapse function to video the summer storms rolling in and they look amazing. The camera has many cool functions to play with. You can leave it as a point-and-shoot camera set in "auto" mode, or fiddle around with ISO, F stop, shutter speeds and other settings to your heart's content to get the optimal shot. Being a newbie to the world of photography I am impressed with the abilities it gives me. Battery life is better than expected too. THE NOT-SO-GOOD STUFF: My only complaint about this camera is the button layout. All the buttons to change modes and do other functions are located on the right hand side (handle) of the body around where your right hand goes. This is convenient for operation but it means that they are susceptible to accidental pushing of the buttons just by holding the camera. It's just a minor 'first world' problem and something to get used to I guess. The EOS R50, like most DSLR cameras is susceptible to weather. There is no weather sealing so be careful to not get it wet. LENSES: Our camera came as a bundle with two lenses included. The lens hoods are not included but are available separately. The 18-45mm is perfect for family snaps, general photography and close-up's. The 55-210mm is best for sports and wildlife photography. The lenses are of the (12 contact) RF-S family and the RF mount is not compatible with the older (8 contact) EF lenses. However, there is an accessory adaptor ring available to allow EF lenses to be used on the RF mount. So, if you've got an old Canon, you can use the old lenses on the new camera but you need to purchase the adaptor. There is a wide variety of lenses from canon and other manufacturers like Sigma and Tamron available for this camera that can suite all needs. The EOS R50 camera body does not have image stabilisation. However, the RF-S (S for Stabilisation) lenses do carry that feature. CONCLUSION: I'm very pleased and impressed with our Canon. If you want a good all round but budget camera with all the bells and whistles, you can't go past the Canon EOS R50. It has all the tricks and trappings of expensive cameras at a fraction of the cost. It's light and compact and perfect for beginners and anyone wanting a good quality DSLR without spending a fortune.

fortune for replacement ink cartridges (for which it had a voracious appetite). We "did our homework" and bought the canon Maxify 6060 which does not use cartridges, but had reservoirs which you fill from a bottle. WE MADE A GREAT CHOICE!!!!! Although more expensive at point of purchase, after 18 months use, we still have not re-filled the reservoirs (although the black is getting low at this stage, the colours are still 3/4 full). This puts us well on the road to recovering the extra purchase-price. We have also found that the print-quality is superior to the old one (which was pretty good). Would we recommend this printer to our friends? The answer is a very definite YES.

different papers. The Pixma Pro 200 is a big, heavy printer, capable of printing A3+, which is 13 x 19 inches. You can also cut your own sheets from a 13 inch roll to print panoramas up to 39 inches long, or almost a metre. There are two paper feeds; one which will handle multiple sheets of up to 300gsm, and the other to handle single sheets of thick art paper.
The printer uses eight colours, and comes with a complete set. A single refill costs about $25 and a set of eight can be found online for $160. They last a long while and so printing costs are moderate. The quality of the output prints is excellent, both colour and black and white.
Canon’s software is quite complex and not at all intuitive, but there are numerous online instructional videos, which lessen the learning curve a bit. You can set different paper sizes and types, crop and resize within the software, soft proof your images and perform basic level and colour adjustments. The driver comes with many types of Canon paper preinstalled, and it is possible to download and install profiles for other types of paper. This is not straightforward, but I did manage to make it work for some Canson papers after several tries.
What I did find after a short while is that the printer does not print in the centre of the paper, but rather a couple of millimetres towards the left of the carriage. You can set the software to print in the middle of the paper, but each time the print is off-centre. It may be that the printer did not get a proper alignment at the factory, or perhaps the box got a knock in transit. I asked Canon to rectify this but they were completely unhelpful. After a day of exchanging emails with Canon Australia, they declared that all of their printers are like this, and I should just juggle with the margins until it is approximately correct. If I waste paper and ink doing this, bad luck.
For a “professional” photo printer this is completely unacceptable, and for that reason alone I would not recommend anyone buy Canon printers. You might get a good one, but if you don’t, there won’t be any support for you, in my experience.

It's easy to attach, use and it also has some of the buttons from the camera now located on the battery pack to allow ease of use. A good investment would be in a camera hand strap.

when photocopying double sided. We have two of these photocopiers on our level at work. Aside from your basic photocopying, I have found that it can scan and email images to your computer, photocopy onto letterheads, staple pages, and print from your compueter. Staff printing to it is frustrating when you are trying to photocopy documents. The person printing takes preference which sometimes completely ruins the order of your photocopying. In an office environment this option should not be allowed and staff made to print to the many laser printers we have. One of them constantly jams you end up going on a little treasure hunt to clear it because the screen gives inaccurate information about where the jam is. Then if you try and do the same photocopy, chances are it will jam in the exact same place again.
