on longevity yet but the extra Makita warranty registration gives peace of mind.
Firstly I noted previous reviews couldn’t cut lawn low enough but I’m finding I only use on 4 or 5 setting so maybe Makita’s addressed this earlier issue? For me or any one similar with chronic illness especially related to respiratory system, I believe buying Battey garden equipment is essential.
But even without my condition it’s a winner in so many other areas- quieter, slightly less heavy, easier to push with the large rubber wheels, no smell or fumes when using or storing under house, more pleasant experience so likely to mow more regularly *, Can easily stop and restart when chatting to neighbours or politely turn off when pedestrians or kids nearby, obviously major improvement regarding no fuel, engine air filters Or service worries, this mower is a great mulcher*,
* I haven’t tested yet with super thick grass but it performed well on some high patches, just needed to use the boost function. I’m expecting to mow more regularly during spring season to avoid this. * haven’t used catcher yet but it seems more flimsy than old petrol plastic catcher, the mulch plug also is flimsy in comparison, just need to be mindful when removing and cleaning.
Batteries lasted longer than I expected probably due to low power mode which is very quiet. Did 70% of my block including 400m2 of nature strip, before using a second pair which still had 4 bars when job complete. I bought the Makita as already had purchased other outdoor tools. Definitely buy during promo, I paid $750 and included 4 batteries 5ah, blower skin, plus during oz day promotion at Sydney tools received $100 voucher.

having already purchased other Ozito tools and batteries. It is certainly less expensive than most other cordless alternatives. Light weight makes it easy to transport and store. We have a medium size Sir Walter buffalo lawn which we keep at least 1 to 2 inches in length so often find I'm pushing hard to progress through thicker grass which may be 3 plus inches long. The mower is surprisingly torquey, and up for it and the 4Ah battery lasts the distance. Worth having a spare just in case, or rotating areas over different days. The blades are super sharp straight out of the box which means the cutting action is great but easily damaged if you hit a stone which can stop the reel rotating and require a file and re-adjustment. This machine is also allergic to hardwood chip mulch as it will instantly lock up on a chip and require releasing. Difficulty inserting the battery can be a minor annoyance as it requires perfect alignment to slide in it's holder and you often find yourself having to get down low to do that. Due to its light weight it can float over the grass at times so needs downwards pressure to keep it's 'bite'. Height adjustment is a waste of time. It needs to be set at it's lowest to maintain a reasonable length and the handle position is too low for a taller operator. I modified mine so the handle is locked at a higher position and downwards pressure can be maintained. This made the difference between being useful v. useless. Like all reel mowers it will leave some patches and miss grass unless your ground is perfectly flat. Be prepared to criss-cross some areas if not. The catcher is a waste of time as it quickly fills and it is a pain to bend over to release and re-attach. Easier to rake afterwards.

product overall. Cheaper would have been nice though at $999.
Has equal power to my existing petrol Victa mulch mower which was good but sucks at mulching and is heavy, noise, stinky, etc.
Battery lasts for our whole yard which is around 250sqm of grass area and is quite steep in parts.
When the self propelled feature is in use it definitely eats battery, but in its defence I’m using it because it’s a steep incline.
Time will tell on the battery longevity.
Will update this review in about a year but so far satisfied.

lawn on a slight slope, he recommended this model. After about three weeks the propulsion started making a loud click and jerk every 1-2m (see attached video), even with the mower blade switched off. The dealer says I set the speed too slow (??), but after increasing the drive speed it would bog; dealer said I need to raise the mower. This works, but not cutting short enough caused the lawn to thatch. The advertised mowing area with one battery charge is 220m², mine does 90m² at the most. I tried using the mulching function once, but the battery got so hot I needed a glove to remove it. It then took 2½ hours to cool down before the charger started its job. With my old Rover petrol mower, it took 30-45 minutes to mow the lawn. Without using the mulching function, the battery lasts 12 minutes, after cooling down for up to an hour first, it then takes 45 minutes to charge, Total mowing time is now 2½-3 hours, and I need to mow twice as often to maintain a good length. The cherry on top is the dealer eventually suggested I sell the unit on Facebook Marketplace!! Stihl themselves are very unhelpful saying they can't do a remote diagnosis, won’t even tell be if the remaining warranty would transfer to another buyer. Dealer suggested a second battery for $319. Thing is if I sell the unit at half the purchase price, add the $319 I can get a petrol mower that works.

Good mower, catcher feed not great – I have owned the mower (2516407AU) for a year now. It came with a 6A fast charger, 6.0Ah battery and the mower itself - from TT Capalaba. Through… Read more
redemption I got an additional 6.0Ah battery and a 60v brushless blower.
The mower is good with a great runtime especially with the two 6.0Ah batteries, it uses more battery power in self propelled and turbo modes. It takes a while to get used to the hand controls and when to release in the self propelled mode at the end of a run. It cuts pretty well on a relatively flat yard and compared to a petrol mower is not hugely different. The turbo mode is used most of the time for my yard as the mower can struggle on grass if it is at height setting three or lower. It folds for upright storage which is handy if storage space is a bit limited. The mulch plug use is good if you don't need to use the catcher.
My main gripes are firstly with the grass catcher feed - the mower doesn't seem to feed the catcher well and it needs emptying well before it is full to avoid grass cuttings being left on the ground. Secondly, you can't clean the mower with water (as it is an electrical device), I understand this, but the grass build up on the underside of the deck is difficult to remove without water. I have used water very carefully with no adverse effects to date, then spraying the clean deck underside with silicon spray to aid future cleaning. This seems to help a bit.
Batteries have indicator LED's to show remaining power and the charger has a fan and can be wall mounted.
The blower (via redemption) is quite heavy but super powerful especially with the turbo button pressed, in my opinion it would be equal to a petrol or wired electric blower.
Overall I am quite happy with the mower but in my opinion it is let down a bit by the catcher feed system.

once I've had the mower for weeks/months/years.
So far it's been a positive experience. My yard is quite long between having my previous mower away (trying to get fixed under warranty) and Cyclone Alfred. So my first mow was on a yard that hasn't been touched in nearly a month. As a result the mower did stall more than once, and it was more noticeable while using the self-propel feature. Basically when pushing it, if it bogged down I'd stop pushing before it stalled. But with the SP on it'd sometimes stall before I cut the power to the wheels.
Frankly though the yard was really high and thick so it'd have easily stalled my defunct AEG and probably my previous Victa petrol too. So I can't downrate it for that. Once I got the pacing of the SP feature right (or just didn't use it) it performed just fine.
While on the subject of the SP feature it's something I wasn't looking for but the kit was priced too attractively compared to the standard (non SP) mower so I grabbed it. And having used it I'm glad I did. On the flat it's no big deal but on the uphill runs it's so nice letting the mower do the work. I've read other people complaining about the handle used to activate the SP feature. I have to say I didn't have issues with it. I think it could be better designed (shorter range), but I didn't find it painful to use or difficult to keep in place. I would like to move the speed control to the top of the handle though because it's current location (about halfway down) is inconvenient if you want to adjust it regularly.
Pace wise the top speed seems too fast, and ultimately I had to dial it way back to slowest pace. I think the top speed is fine (it'll work for younger, fitter people) but oldies might find the slowest pace to still be too fast. It's also "heavy" for a couple seconds after turning SP off. I guess the wheels are still connected to the driving mechanism. So you need to turn off SP, push gently for a second and then the mechanism disengages and you can turn the mower or drag it backwards more easily.
I think between the heavy load (thick, long grass) and using the SP a lot it's very hard on the battery. I got less than a quarter of my yard done, and it lasted less than half an hour. However, I think that'll change dramatically once I'm doing "normal" mows. This brings us to the charging, which is super fast but sounds like a hair dryer. This is because the charging unit (and possibly the battery too) has a cooling fan that is active while charging. It's ridiculously noisy, so don't expect to charge the battery while having a nap anywhere nearby. It does however smash the charge in really quickly. I didn't time it, but the 60v 4ah battery was definitely done in less than an hour (from flat).
The catcher has one interesting quirk. I say quirk because I'm not sure if it's a problem or not. Basically half the space where the grass exits to the rear is completely blocked off. So it's only throwing grass into the catcher through a hole about 20cm wide instead of the full width. It seemed to catch roughly as well as the AEG did with a full width gap so I'm not sure it's makes a difference.
Other than that, build quality seems quite solid, the handles fold well, and it can be stored upright. The cut seems a bit wider than on the AEG, but I think that's because the blades are the same length but the body of the mower is narrower. So you're getting closer to the full width of the mower when making a pass. There are some plastic components underneath the mower that I'm worried about trapping grass near the deck and becoming a potential rust risk. Will have to keep an eye on that.
All in all I'd like to give it 4.5 stars not 4, but can't do that. So the deduction is for the slight niggle adjusting speed and that it feels a little too fast in SP mode.

appearance and features of the mower. That said I was not expecting great performance from it, I did not think two battery packs would provide the power or range to match the old 4 stroke. How wrong I was. Having assembled it and charged the batteries last night I mowed the front lawn this morning. I was instantly very pleased by the performance. It ate up the front lawn which was in need of a cut. Then I went out the back and put it through some weeds that had got quite big. It never hesitated. It's not something I will do with it often, but it proved to be a powerful tool, and has a surprising length of use without going flat. The control bar is simple to use and the noise level is quite low and not unpleasant. The catcher fills right up before needing to be emptied. The Ozito mower has certainly exceeded my expectations, and with a 5 year warranty I think we made a good purchase. I recommend it.

better than renting one out, ability to lend to mates, do it in your own time or expand on it and buy the dethatcher attachment ($70 - RSCA1) has made most of my lawn renovations easier and really help thin it our, less 'sponge' feel to it. Some say don't use on buffalo lawn but on a higher level it has been fine, and its all in the prep/timing/post fertilization steps.
Pros -more affordable with de thatcher attachment, get more use out of it, use the attachment during spring to clean up -easy to use controls, change out blades, audio beeps, folds away quite well -helps thin out lawn high points when lawn height is too much -more than enough power, 4-6ah battery is best used -helps you take pride in your lawn
Cons -if only needing it for one go, it is quite expensive, but resale value is there if you try and dont like -can struggle in some lawn areas, battery will overload and needs to be removed to reset, practice needed. -catcher is useless, it fills too quickly, would rather them not add this into kit, reduce price and make it an optional buy, just use without and it clumps up and pulls itself along, then clean up with normal mower -less a con, more FYI/Tip - if you plan to buy the 36v, check stock first, there are less of these for sale than the 18v version, so you may plan to rock up and buy the day before you want to start, and they wont have stock and may be a special order.
Overview be prepared to full you green waste bin or pick up some 285L bags from Bunnings - $10 - as you will be shocked how much comes out of the lawn so will need to put it somewhere, and if your lawn looks horrible after, dont stress, as long as you have not ripped it all out, it will recover. Do simple passes on the lawn to get a feel for it, look on youtube for advice on when to start, tips etc Dont forget to fertilize the lawn after, this is key to it coming back faster and better.

why they wish the mower could reverse, as the unit is heavy. The selective turbo is an interesting option; the mower can take off (great workout keeping up) using the normal speed is perfect. I find this mower is much heavier to negotiate comparing to my other battery mower. I'd be in trouble if this wasn't self-propelled. Catcher is a perfect size, clips off and on easily. Batteries hold their charge very well on front/back large lawns, even when having to use the Trimmer first. Blower also has a turbo button if needed and makes life easier cleaning up, very powerful. As for the Trimmer it is easy enough to use, cuts could be neater but I'm guessing it's the operator. Chainsaw is amazing cuts through logs like butter, fairly quiet and easy to handle. Batteries charge up quickly, seems the charger has a cooling fan whilst battery is charging. The batteries are heavy but if this kit lasts longer than my other brand, I'll be very happy.
