Best hair removal item ever! – I bought the item 5 weeks ago for myself and teenage daugter for our legs, arms and bikini area. I have always been a hairy person and hated it,… Read more

olive skin and black hair! My daughter too!

So after waxing for the past 25 years, I spotted this product and read so many reviews that I just had to try it.

The results after 2 weeks on my legs were amazing, I had no hairs on either sides of my shin and then within 3 weeks the hairs were starting to show in just patches. The bikini area took a little longer, but after 4 weeks I have no hair on the outside of the bikini line about an ich in my case and I went for the runway look and the hair is going after 5 weeks inside my pant line, I have no ingrown hairs, no razor bumps and I finally feel and look smooth (far better than waxing, which hair cames through within a few weeks for me). Underarms are patchy, but I will keep it up.

I have used it once a week on setting 5, its very easy to use. I also use a very good razor to shave first and also use a clear shave gel and oil myself after use. My daughter is waxing so has slower results.

Just a couple of negatives - On my boney ankles I struggle to get contact, my daughter has hairy feet and it just does not work there. I also think its worth buying in winter getting rid of the hair for spring/summer, then all you have to do it the maintence top up in the summer months. I bought it in the summer, but its mostly rained, just buy it at least 3 months before your main holiday away!

I am giving this product a 5 out of 5.

I do not work for Phillips or any retailers. I wish I had bought it years ago, thats my only regret. I cannot wait to go on holiday this year and have no worrys about hair or ingrown hair/bumps on my bikini line.

was a good brand.

The reply from their customer service:

The life of any product is directly related to the way the product has been used, maintained, charged, discharged and stored. As with any electronic device, we cannot guarantee the exact lifespan of the product. However, we do guarantee that we will provide full support within the warranty period.

I used this shaver once every 10 days however Philips deliberately design their product to only last while still under warranty. Do not buy!

2- 3 years ago. Worked fine until now. Last charged 2 days ago, had two shaves, now flat again. Cannot find where to get a new battery fitted, website is hopeless goes round in ever decreasing circles. Years ago I would have repaired it myself as a qualified electronics technician, now at 75 years age cannot see or hold instruments properly after stroke. Will continue to use my old one until I find a way to fix this new one. I am not hopeful, as it will probably cost more than the shaver. Looks like I go shopping again but unfortunately not a Phillips which I have always preferred. I live 150 kms from Melbourne Australia. Any suggestions welcome. My suggestion is don't buy a Philips if this is the way their products are going. I use the shaver at least daily and absolutely depend on it when traveling.

Update: This morning, a day or so after I posted the above, I recieved an email from Philips Personal Care asking me for specific photographs of the faulty shaver. I immediately responded as requested. This was followed very quickly with a seond email from Philis informing me that my shaver was still under warranty and a new replacement is on the way.

What can I say? Sadly the shaver died too soon, but Philips has honoured the warranty. A replacement shaver is on the way!

Staff member was very knowlegable, courtious and helpful. I must say this shaver gave me the best shaves :-)

Thank you Philips Personal Health, top marks for service and customer support. Cheers

Philips 1000 series shaver for two months and here are my thoughts.

Out of the box it feels much lighter than all other shavers I’ve used. There is no heft to it. This model is advertised as charging from USB, which it does. However it uses a charging lead with a proprietary connector on one end and USB A on the other. Why not simply go with USB C? Perhaps Philips are worried about water ingress, although I only use shavers dry.

Charging is sloooow and once charged I only get three uses out of it, whereas with previous shavers I get seven to ten shaves. It seems the battery in this model is quite small which would explain the light weight.

The quality of the shave is similar to previous Philips shavers but the frequent charging is a drag. There is no pop up trimmer. There is no cleaning brush but I have plenty from my previous shavers. Philips say you can clean the heads with water but this is ineffective and would certainly shorten the life of the blades.

This is a very cheap shaver, but I don’t think it’s good value for money. I would recommend spending a bit more for a 3000 or 5000 series shaver for a better “user experience”.

This device is amazing! – I just bought it and I used it on my pubic area as soon as it finished charging. Defnitely use in the shower with a small amount of soap or… Read more

conditioner for lubrication.

The first use is a bit more painful but I can see that the worst is already over. The device was even able to get the hair on my soft mushy and pliable skin areas once I found the correct technique for keeping the skin tight. Surprisingly less painfull there than I expected. The thickest hairs offered the most pain, but it was still less painful than waxing. Don't let the pain comments scare you, you quickly adjust to it and it becomes a non-issue. As a man, I also have fairly thick hair.

I recommend attacking small areas first, then spreading out from there once the device isn't finding any new hairs. I also recommend trimming very closely first. The device picks up even the shortest of hairs, so don't worry. And the shorter the hair, the less your skin is pulled. I also recommend starting larger, thicker, areas by moving sideways across the area. Doing so helps thin the area out before moving against the grain.

Perfect product. Super happy! Definitely recommend.

No Adapter with Philips 7000 shavers – Philips shavers in Australia only come with a usb cord and no adapter but this is not clearly flagged on the packaging. I only realised the absence… Read more

of the adapter after opening the packaging.

Philips claim more than 90% of consumers have a suitable 5V >1A AC/DC splash proof adapter and say they don’t supply adapters to save on plastic waste and meet UN sustainability goals.

I didn’t have a suitable adapter so phoned Philips customer service. Chose the option for spare parts and was directed to what turned out to be a separate company - Statewide Appliances - that charged $23.95 for adapter and $15 for delivery. It took several days for adapter to arrive and I couldn’t use shaver during that time.

I complained to customer service by email and phone but they maintained their line that most people already have an adapter and that because they provide details of required adapter online that is enough. But people don’t look at websites when buying a shaver in a shop and the absence of adapter is not adequately flagged on the package (it is in a lower corner of the box in small print)

In the end, customer service agreed to extend warranty on my shaver from two years to four as they could not refund cost of adapter. Judging from some reviews indicating shavers sometimes fail after 2 years the extended warranty is probably of value.

But Philips should accept that their flagging of absence of adapter on packaging is inadequate and they should highlight it more. After all, they are positioning it as a policy to promote UN sustainability goals and as such should make the absence of an adapter more obvious.

Much quieter than the foil type that I also have. Initially though the lights on the head were a gimmick but actually, they give an indication for the shaving angle and the pressure required for a close shave. Now pressing harder than before. So, not such a bad thing. The cleaning dock also looked like a gimmick. But that too works very well. Wash shaver weekly. Dec 25 Update - After 6 months the shaver does not work as well as it did. Now starting to get irritation with the shave.

cleaning, It is very difficult to put it back; there is no indication /guide where to line the plastic cap to fit them back into the housing. ( I try rotating the blue cap round and round and hope to find a catch, but it is very cumbersome and time consumming!)

Additional review: After my first review, I do notice that there are 2 protruding tips on the blue ring which can be lined up with the 2 protruding tips on the shaving head. ( Do make sure that the head unit needs to lift off from a flat surface to do so, or else the blue ring won't be able to push in and twist) .

didn't help at all. I was going to a clinic to get IPL done on my face and it worked a treat however I had to drive 200kms as I live in a country town and I noticed my facial hair was going white so I stopped getting the treatments. I decided to buy one of these and give it a go at home and so far I have been impressed. My facial hair is taking a while to diminish however it is slowing and I can tell the difference. Also, the colour has come back so I'm thinking the clinic had the laser setting on too high and was overdoing it.

I actually enjoy using this machine. It is a little slow with its flash rate, I really do wish I could get something like this that was a faster machine to use but I paid less then half price for it and I'm very happy with the results so far.
