had completely melted and fridge section was not cold either. Lucky had a very freezer in the shed so got that out and cleaned and most of the meats, etc placed in there. Moved majority of fridge items into 2 esky's and have had to purchase ice. Unfortunately contacting Westinghouse/Electrolux customer section only to be advised that they could not do anything and that I would need to get it repaired/assessed. Not professional and when you pay a large amount of money for a product that should last at least 10 years if well looked after and cleaned. Unfortunately been the end of the week after calling a dozen technicians earliest I could get technicians out was not until Monday or paying very expensive call out fees for the weekend. A couple of technicians after discussions advised that this particular fridge/model has had many issues and I would be paying close to 1000 minimum whether it was electrical, compressor, leak, etc with labour, call out and parts. they recommended it was best just to purchase a new fridge. Went and did that Friday afternoon but earliest I could get delivery for a new fridge in Adelaide was Monday.
After the majority of reviews I have seen, I would recommend that this product does not last for what should be a lifetime of 10 years, especially with cost of living. Will be looking at contacting Consumer Affairs about this.

in there, and everything was soft. Started having some issues with the ice maker last year, the hopper had broken away from the mount, only a small piece of plastic holding it in place. Samsung sent out a new one. But then the ice tray wouldn't dump the ice, but the fridge kept trying to fill the ice tray, causing water to be pooled at the front of the fridge. Spoke with Samsung multiple times, did some trouble shooting with them, but now they have refused to send someone out to look at it. At the moment, cannot use the water dispensor, and had to pull out the ice cube trays. Just this week, the hopper broke again the same way, discovered a piece of plastic in my drink. modern fridge to compare it against.
Competition - If Mitsubishi had a Japanese made fridge with plumbed ice and water, we likely would have purchased that instead based on that brand's excellent reviews even though it likely would have been significantly more expensive.
Dimensions - installed, our fridge is 178cm high, and 91cm wide. (You will want additional air gaps of 4+ cm on each side and above)
Price - we paid $1,888 in the black friday sales (Nov 2024) for this fridge from Retravision which included basic delivery to Brisbane.
Review - Overall, we really like this fridge and wish we had purchased a plumbed fridge far sooner. I personally prefer this fridge's side-by-side (freezer on left, fridge on right) design, compared to the french door fridge. The fact that the side-by-side is roughly half the cost of the french door equivalent makes for a compelling argument as well! I also like the fact that this fridge has switched back to a supposedly more reliable traditional 'smart' inverter versus the linear compressor - though this likely comes with a higher energy consumption.
The fridge is very good, but has a few quirks which I will enumerate below:
1) The supplied water filter which connects inline between water supply tap and the fridge is completely external, and is roughly the size of a 400ml water bottle. It is recommended to replace it every 6 months. We were able to hide the filter above the fridge in a cabinet and drill access holes for the water lines, along with an access port that enables us to turn off the water supply in order to replace the filter. The fridge is big and the last thing you want to be doing is having to pull out the fridge from its cavity every 6 months - so good access to the filter and the ability to easily turn off the water supply is paramount.
2) Water/ice dispenser has no drip or catch tray, and particularly when dispensing ice, be prepared to have a cloth handy to wipe up spills. I suspect the area immediately around the dispenser will rust over time.
3) There is only very limited cold water on hand at any time - the fridge does not have a cold water reservoir, and the amount of 'cold'-ish water on hand would be equivalent to the small volume in its internal plumbing. With that being said, you should have plenty of ice available in potentially 3 different forms: crushed, cubed, and the large craft/cocktail ice balls.
4) The large craft/cocktail ice balls that form each day are deposited in to a plastic draw at the top of the freezer. Unlike most fridge/freezer draws that traditionally have tabs or a lip to prevent inadvertently ejecting the whole draw when softly pulling at it, no such mechanism exists for this ice draw. It thus requires a bit of extra care to ensure the draw and/or its contents are not dropped.
I hope this review helps others and will update it accordingly should any problems arise.

every brand. This model stood out to me out of all of them. I liked the look, the layout, the size and the features. I thought the drawers and shelves were organised well. I liked it had an ice maker and water dispenser - specifically non-plumbed, as I had read getting your fridge plumbed to mains water can introduce a lot of risk of both flooding and breakdowns.
I’ve had the fridge over a year now and it’s just awesome.
One time the water/ice dispenser stopped working. You pressed your glass/cup to the paddle and nothing would happen. No whirring, no sound, no response at all. Like the electro-switch that detects when the paddle is pushed had broken. I’m a handy guy, so i turned off the fridge at the power point and removed the dispenser. I got to the little switch and tested its output with my multimeter, and bizarrely there was nothing wrong with it. Puzzled, i refitted the switch and paddle and turned the fridge back on at the power point. I pressed the paddle with my fingers and lo and behold it was working again. I have a feeling, seeing as this fridge has WiFi etc, that what had actually happened was the software glitched out in the fridge and like a computer or phone that is malfunctioning it needed to be rebooted / just turned off and on again.
It hasn’t happened since, if if happened again, Hopefully that fixes it once more.
Awesome fridge though!

that was (well) over 15 years old (came with the house). I would never have bought a plumbed fridge but I couldn't live without it now. After my one cup of tea in the morning I have iced water all day (in TAS). We paid $1992 in September 2025 (got Appliances Online to match a JBHiFi price) and got the stainless steel to match our other appliances (all Bosch).
At 635L the interior of this fridge seems huge. I have two half hams of 6kg each plus the perishables from neighbours who were going away and there is still plenty of room. The shelves in the doors are almost twice as deep as the old fridge meaning you can fit plenty of tall bottles, and on the freezer side I am no longer worrying that I will break the plastic when the bagged meat gets wedged in when it freezes. The 2L milk used to be a snug fit but now it rattles around, I have ballasted it with the butter to keep the milk upright. Likewise I have a few bottles of tonic that I don't need cold but they stop the other tall bottles from falling over. We have put two baskets on the top shelf for cheese and similar smaller items to make the most of the generous shelf height. Might upgrade these to plastic containers with lids because there are no closed-in spaces in the fridge other than the two vege drawers (the old fridge had a specific cheese drawer hung under the top shelf that was really handy, and a lid on the top shelf of the door where I keep garlic, ginger, and suchlike). I put those things in small plastic boxes now.
The freezer is what you would expect with two large drawers at the bottom (one slightly smaller to accommodate the motor). Our freezer used to be packed whereas now there is plenty of room, even after he won the local meat tray last night (and the veggie tray but he gave that back because we won it last week). The whole thing fridge really solid, and it is a *lot* quieter than the old fridge. The stainless steel finish (can't speak for the black) is excellent, leaving no finger marks on the surface. The shelves are made of glass (my partner dropped one and nearly had a heart attack). I have calculated (using Aurora+) that the fridge is saving us over $0.30 per day in electricity, and that was before we changed the fridge to 4 degrees C (rather than 3) and the freezer to -17 (rather than -18) degrees C because some of the veges in the bottom drawer of the fridge were freezing.
The ice maker takes up relatively little room because it is smaller than the old fridge, but it makes ice fast enough to keep up with me. Some complain that the crushed ice dispenser is a little generous with where the ice goes (potentially all over the place); you can always use a little jug or similar with a wider lip to catch the ice, but I live with the collateral. The fridge comes with a water filter and you can fit it to the plumbed water supply at the back. I have an inline filter in my pantry and so I will continue to change the filter there so I don't have to pull the fridge out (but it is not difficult to roll out and back). Fridge filters are a mystery, I have to remember how to do it each time, but that is not a criticism of this fridge because our filter is independent.
One downside: the doors open in such a way that it takes up a lot more room when the door is open than the advertised width of the fridge. The bottom drawer of both the fridge and freezer are full-depth and require the door(s) to be wide open (at least 170 degrees) before you can pull the drawer out. This would be an issue if you have a built-in space tight around the fridge and the fridge was fully recessed. The solution would be to have the fridge pulled out slightly (the door-depth or about 10cm clear of the surrounding enclosure) or to make the enclosure bigger. Our neighbours had to do the latter when they got a similar LG fridge five years ago.
I haven't tried the app yet because it needs access to the 2.4Ghz signal and that means telling our wifi to temporarily broadcast in 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz so that we can set the fridge (and new Bosch series 4 dishwasher) up. Haven't got around to it yet but I am not sure that I would want to change the fridge settings often (the stats might be interesting). The delivery guys had to use our front gate to get the fridge through (the back gate was too narrow), although it could have been taken off the dolly and manually shuffled through sideways.
I loved everything about our old fridge but the plumbed water started coming out of the freezer door (rather than the water dispenser) and so it was on its way out after what I would guess was 20 years. We had it repaired twice. I am thrilled to have got a new one so similar and so much bigger inside (the outside footprint is more or less the same except for the increased space needed to open the doors). I would really recommend this but pay attention to the space comments.

this fridge is the one thing that has broken. I wish I did more research prior to purchasing this fridge as now it's apparent that this problem we are having is a common occurrence. The Ice dispenser is not dispensing ice and the ice flap that will usually open when dispensing the ice is opening and closing continually. After one night of it opening and closing it is now making this horrid screeching noise along with the noise the flap was originally making. I have called The Good Guys to put in a warranty claim and now awaiting a call from Samsung for someone to come and fix the problem. Quite frustrating as we now have to listen to this extremely annoying sound over the weekend, The Good Guys tell me I should hear from Samsung on Tuesday given it's Friday today. The other thing I'm stressed about is the fact this has happened so early on, how many more times is this going to happen!? I hope not ever but I don't like the odds of that given I have only had this fridge for 1.5 months! My last fridge lasted 16 years before it died on me, I was so excited to start fresh with this new fridge and have a nice long life with it! Now I'm just feeling stressed and anxious about my purchase, is this something I'm going to have to deal with for the life of the fridge!? At the moment I'm feeling really robbed as a customer and honestly, I wish I could just get a refund or an exchange as I have lost all hope in this product. I understand that a refund isn't really on the cards and the company have an obligation to fix it but at this stage all I'm feeling is buyers regret, it's not fair that a customer doesnt have the right to a refund straight off the bat on a product that has a known fault. Extremely disappointed, frustrated and annoyed to say the least.

Ordered new water dispenser and wondered why the call centre could not have done that. 2 weeks 'out of the box' receiving a "Er dH" error indicating that the freezer defroster was experiencing anywhere between blocked water exit to - total PC Board failure. Not so . . . same error appeared lesst than 24 hrs later and the fridge and freezer are useless - and over the Xmas period. This has been an extremely disruptive experience - and I'm not that happy with the Electrolux customer "service" experience either. That's another story - and I'll raise that on another channel as requested (by Electrolux) which means that they are aware their customer service is not what it should be. Update: Service tech attended and evaporator unit and PCB replaced. 2 days on so far so good. Now 6 weeks on I still don't have a water dispenser. Lost in transit perhaps - or not ordered yet. Phoned customer (we don't) care and was told that tech who visited reordered water dispenser. I was standing next to him when he inquired as to its whereabouts and he sent message up the line to ask what the status of this order was. No reordering done while he was here - I can tell you. Pros and cons of buying a side by side fridge
How do side by side fridges compare to other fridges?
As mentioned above, unlike other types of fridges, such as French door fridges, side by side fridges, are not convertible. For example, if your French door fridge doesn't offer enough fridge space, you can convert freezer space into fridge space (and vice versa).
A side by side fridge is a good compromise between a top mount and bottom mount fridge. If choosing between having easy eye-line access to fridge or freezer has been a point of contention, because you use both your fridge and freezer equally, the convenient thing about a side by side fridge is that you get the best of both worlds.
How much does a side by side fridge cost?
Side by side fridges come with a steep upfront cost - expect to spend around anywhere between $1,700 and $4,000.
In addition to a high upfront cost, side by side fridges also come with high running costs to keep everything working and running smoothly.
Side by side fridges are larger than other types of fridges, which means that they often have to work harder to cool air, resulting in higher energy consumption and a louder operation (due to the internal fridge fan).
Extra features that will make life easier
Side by fridges are often decked out with similar extras that you’ll find in other types of fridges, however, the width of the fridge means more features can fit onto the outside of the fridge.
For example, it’s common to find useful extras such as a water and ice dispenser, and display screens on a side by side fridge.
Some side by side boasts ‘smart’ capacities, such as connecting to Wi-Fi to show what’s in the fridge if you’re out doing a spontaneous grocery shop, or providing online recipes - no more standing in front of the fridge, scratching your head, confused what to cook.
Conclusion
Side by side fridges are useful for households containing many people, thanks to their ability to provide ample space, with a total capacity that starts at a minimum of at least 555L.
