have gone to another provider. Unfortunately I only realised today that I have to specifically ask Southern Phone to terminate the service that they are withdrawing, or they would continue to charge me up until their arbitrarily imposed cessation date which is 6 week away. How egregious is that! Southern Phone used to be a cooperative, but once it was purchased by AGL, it just went downhill in terms of customer focus.

Telstra refused to help me and through me under the bus, I was told I had to wait 5 days for my speeds to be back... what a terrible way to treat a customer who has been with you for years..

never received any communication that I still had an active account, and then had to jump through so many hoops to cancel my service that I haven't used in over 10 years. To then ask why I wanted to cancel despite me clearly explaining this in my original correspondence was infuriating. Their reason for no refund is 'they buy the internet data from Optus, so have to pass on that costs regardless of whether the data is used'. Every email correspondence had a different name that I was 'speaking to', at one point they even forgot to say they were for Blink and were another company! Glad to be done with them finally (hopefully!)

ever had the opportunity to speak to their offshore customer service reps via Message Chat, the absolute absurd troubleshooting advice they offer ranges so vastly depending on the person you are speaking with. We have been told to do the following different troubleshooting steps by different people for when the connection drops:
1. Standard plug out for 30 seconds, but also to remove the Sim Card from the router because this can somehow stay connected to the network without power??
2. Factory Reset the router - this was once offered as a first step solution to a network drop out
3. Disconnect the router from the network so the service rep could manually connect to a different tower in the area
4. At 11pm on a Tuesday night, the network was out as the local tower we were connected to was suffering from user congestion - even though we live next to the MCG and have no issues when games/concerts are on
5. Pack up the router and send back to them so they can send out a new router
The list goes on - it is an absolute farce and they have no support whatsoever. We have found Google to be more helpful than whoever it is they have handling their customer support.
I was literally so confounded when they asked us to factory reset their modem as a first step and said to them 'What on earth??' to which the customer support person replied, "No, in your house"
AVOID.

broadband" is beyond me. Whover owns or runs the actual infrastructure Foxtel resells needs to either spend the investment on upgrading or be put out of business. Dreadful speeds, CONSTANT dropouts, buffering issues, and in some instances total outages that can last over an hour. I'm also in a major city too. I live in a small unit, so I thought trying a wi-fi extender might help. Nope., Made zero difference. In fact, I think it might have made it worse. It's simply unacceptable, especially for the staggering monthly price thery charge.

again the customer service agent told me that I would have to pay for a modem that was offered to me free of charge. Sure they eventually checked this and found it was actually free but they were very quick to tell me that I owed over $400. Even worse is that I am also now sent emails telling me I will be charged over $400 for a free modem. I don't have another hour to waste while their inefficient staff stumble through the system. The initial offer was done verbally over the which is totally unprofessional and no terms were sent to me. I won't be back.

Mobal

unusable speeds. I cannot even load a normal website with the connection. Usage prior to this included watching a few small videos watched on how to be a tourist and lots of searches "how to do this", "how to get to a location", "what do others think of location", etc. Used maybe 1-2Gb out of the 60Gb in the SIM package.
Tried to reset phone mobile settings to default, tried to restart phone, tried to switch to roaming on my Optus SIM and then back again. Followed their instructions to ensure APN configuration was right. Nada. The fact that it was working for a day and a half and then decided not to honour my use of the SIM suggests the issue lies with the Mobal Docomo network used.
Tried to reach out to their support and realised it takes them 2 business days to respond. Submitted the request anyway and got no response at all during my trip (2.5 weeks). Not even this day, 10+ days after I got home from Japan.
I tried to switch to SIM number 2 (backup) with its own data plan. Worked for abit and again, failed mid way through. Used about a fraction of the 60Gb promised/sold to me.
In the end, I paid for Optus daily roaming. $5 for 5Gb of data. Not too bad but can add up so be careful (30 days = 30 x $5 = $150 a month). I think Telstra only offers $5 for 1Gb of data.
Moral of the story: Do not buy Mobal SIMs. They may appear to be cheap when compared to others but their SIMs fail before you can make good use of it. You will never get your month worth.

Quite frankly, this is the only option available in order to prevent one from being Screwed continuously.

Asking how long I have lived at my address and poking into my employment details just to set up an internet connection is completely over the top and invasive. Treating a basic utility or monthly service like a heavy financial loan with deep background checks is poor consumer practice.
