Top notch crafstmanship, immensely powerful, and has replaced three other big appliances – What led me to this point is starting to make my own hummus. I had one of those processor/blender combos with the single motor for both, and both of… Read more
them produced very sub-par results. Then I tried a low-end stick blender that I'd had passed on to me during someone's house clean out. Results much better, but still not quite the power I needed - chickpeas are dense even when cooked and need loads of power to puree through them cleanly.
Then the penny drooped that what I have occupying precious cupboard space are a useless old and small multipro and low-end stick blender, none of which really had any power in them
The penny then dropped that instead of all those space wasters, I can have one powerful appliance that can do all of of their jobs and then some I'd never even thought of.
Took one look at the Gastro series of Bamix and the biggest dilemma was which one: the 200, or 350.
I got the 350 even though I was at first a bit apprehensive about how enormous it looks, but it's been a delight to use, and very manoeuvrable.
The power in it is nothing short of astonishing. I had frozen about a kilo of overripe bananas and it managed to chow its way through them to make a banana & coconut milk icecream.
It takes seconds to complete pureeing, emulsifying, crushing, blending, chopping, you name it it does it.
One very happy home cook here with loads of deliciously creamy hummus here.

downloaded the owner manual, that five accessory pieces were missing, today I used this unit to make pumpkin soup. When I used the puree attachment, the rotating plastic blade promptly fell off. It seemed to lock in place but as soon as I raised the blade, it just fell into the soup. I think that there may be something missing, as when I first bought it home, I heard something drop onto the floor and to date I haven't been able to find it. It is not listed as being a separate part and so I think that it was just a poorly made part. So off to The Good Guys store at Booval tomorrow to see if I can get it replaced. I'll probably ask about the missing parts as well. They may just say that as it was a display unit and I was given a good price, that I should just go away, like other reviewers have had happen to them in regard to The Good Guys.
I have found the problem. After disassembling the impeller assembly head, it appears that there is… Read more (+2 replies)

supposedly the best available......Bamix.
The unit broke the mini blender attachment after only a few months and we figured we didn't use it that often and as such wasn't worth fixing.
Now the blender is 2.5 years old and smoke started pouring out of it making a smoothie. I rang Bamix and was told to take it to a service centre where they advised me it would be $35 dollars to look at it and then depending on the problem possibly a further cost to repair it.
So I rang Bamix back and they told me they would pass on the issue to which I received a call from the CEO advising me that if I didn't pay the $35 there was nothing they could do!!!
This appliance barely gets used in our house and now it will be going in the bin!!!!!
Not fit for purpose!

clean and the blades come off easily for cleaning, and, WATCH THE BLADES when washing too, THEY ARE SHARP!
I got this at Myer whilst on sale for $139, a Godsend considering what you are getting.

I highly recommend this product, especially for its pricetag.

have had 4 in the past 4 years). Twice the bottom half stopped working, a squealing noise is the warning sound it's on it's way out (I even defrost the frozen fruit to prolong the life of the blender).
Twice the top half has been a problem; once the rubber cover over one of the buttons broke plus the product started squealing and I knew it was on its way out (because I kept the receipt this time it was replaced for free). On my current one only the bottom button works, the top button stopped working in less than six months. As I have moved it is not convenient to exchange it this time. So when this one dies I am not buying another one.
The other issue is that it gets food residue on the inside of the bottom half where the blade rotates. It is extremely difficult to clean even with hot soapy water, soaked and well shaken, the barrel is too narrow to get a cleaning brush in to it. I persisted with this product because it works so well but there are a lot of draw backs.

convenient to use. When that died with a worn-out shaft bearing, the new version happened to be 'on special' at $55. This new, 2-speed version has a less well enclosed blade, but a 2-button safety interlock, which prevents the user from pulsing the blender, and a quite separate speed switch. Since this device has to be used one-handed (the other hand steadying the container), the Cuisinart engineers have converted a very handy, functional device into something much more clumsy. However they do not seem to have rectified the design problem which caused the demise of our first blender - the inadequate bearing on the shaft on which the blade is mounted. The end which fits into the motor unit has quite a bit of side-to-side slop even new, implying that there is still only a bearing at the bottom end. That said, it certainly gives just as quick and good results as its predecessor, even though it is so much more fiddly to use.
