tax return and do my quarterly BAS. Every year, i find errors with my tax return and BAS. I probably spend more time double checking their work than they do in lodging my tax return and doing my bas. Their portal is archaic and limited and doesnt have the simplest information on liabilities ie LBRA. I asked why and they said that's the way it is designed, yet they have a tab for balance sheet and show assets BUT NOT THE LIABILITIES, how weird. They were meant to cancel my direct debit with the ato and they didnt, so suddently over $20k was taken out of my smsf bank account. No communication, no apology nothing. I asked where there accountants dept is located and they told me it is overseas. This now explains why all the errors and the lack of understanding how simple accounting works. I have 3 properties under the smsf and they even dumped all the expenses for all the properties under 1 heading, i asked them to break it up as each property should have their own expenses so i can see. They dump everything into one so it is hard to track their errors. I decided to use MYOB and i am now able to pick up all their errors. So it is not worth it when you are doing all the work and they charge for a service that is not being delivered.

With access to their Class app it is very simple to keep up to date with the performance of our super. All aspects of fund management are taken care of for a simple monthly fee which is very reasonable. When I arrived at the office I was told my personal tax return couldn’t be done until the business return was done (even though they are completely separate). I was then quoted $2000 for the business return and i also had to sign up to use their software (over $150 pm) and it couldn’t be done using figures from an Excel SS. So you do 80% of their work and they still charge a huge amount. Unbelievable!
