I couldn't give any less than 1 star. After on-aired TV bombardment ads by YOUI (but at my fault with "you're insured"), I came to and have been… Read more

using YOUI for my landlord insurance provider for two consecutive years.

At the beginning of this year in Jan (2026), after a heavy flooding NSW statewide which damaged the cornice on the top of my property garage, I made a claim to YOUI for the tiny cornice repair. After a lengthy period of 5 months' waiting, one of guys from YOUI called me and asked me to conduct some maintenance work before YOUI commences the repair work. I asked him to contact my property management agent for maintenance work on this matter, if any, since the agent is engaged to look after the property. The guy called me back only after 10 minutes or so and told me that he would now decline the claim because he simply couldn't get hold of the agent at the time.

After contacting my management agent about the awareness of maintenance work, I have later lodged a complaint to YOUI about the up-front decline, and YOUI then rushed to produced an immediate report saying that wear and tear is the culprit for the damage and it's our responsibility for the wear-and-tear, even after initially promising the repair work commencement. I escalated the matter to AFCA and after escalation, YOUI this time sent me another lengthy report asking for maintenance work again, wear & tear, here and there, blabla before weighing up further action. BEWARE, anything generated from YOUI could end up a claim differently.

claim. Poor customer service, a failure on multiple occasions to update the policy after reasonable and repeated requests, a total lack of communication and comparatively higher cost has lead us to find a new insurer. WFI owned by AIG, are a blight on the integrity of the Australian Insurance industry. It is a company managed by morons and their collective incompetence is willingly delegated to regional representatives such as ours in Northern Victoria. There are other companies and great brokers that avoid AIG and focus on providing great cover, excellent communication and competitive pricing. We have nothing that is positive to say about the WFI commercial plan or its representatives. An apology and an admission of poor service by the state manager to us, without an offer to fix the problem after our years of association should be an indication to others that the fish rots from the head down. Be warned, read the reviews!

Stay away from AAMI, they are professional scammers. After my house got destroyed by tenants, they denied any malicious damage, sent 3x assessors to… Read more

the property over a month, then proceeded to raise an investigation on my claim through their parent company Suncorp fraud and intelligence dept. They left a number which went straight to a pre-recorded voice message and only after 2 weeks then said it was not a fraud investigation. By that time, I had already engaged 2x commercial lawyers and went through a lot of anxiety and stress. They found excuses for every single damage left by the tenants. Lachlan, my AAMI claim manager, sounded like I was always a burden to him. Dane, the AAMI Assessor, basically misquoted the PDS clause, where I sought a legal interpretation of the clause which suggested he was incorrect. Sue, the AAMI/Suncorp investigation officer, insisted that she organise an hour long recorded "interview", more like interrogation. They will go out of their way to add additional stress to the point that I have withdrawn all my claims and cancelled my policy. Not its worth the stress, time and depression. Stay away from them.

idiot.

The first claim was after unprecedented rain and one room flooded as the water came back in through the sheets and the gutters overflowed. COLES said lack of maintenance. Not true. They proceeded to send a company out to try and prove my roof was in bad repair and took photos of other parts of the roof with a few rust stains. This roof an older roof that was maintained and recently had new screws and sheets replaced. Might as well not have insurance if they never pay. The second claim Coles have refused to pay tenant damage and loss of rent. I believe I did not have loss of rent on the cover so I except that and then took it out at a latter date in my policy. Lesson learnt there but the damage to property and items missing they will not pay. They said it’s not clear what went missing. There was furnishing missing and the damage was evident. I have 2 smashed windows, burnt carpet, holes in the walls ect. The kicker is Coles feel this is normal tenants neglect. ( I’ll I see a photo of their explanations) I have escalated this with Coles with no success so now I have to go to AFCA. It’s exhausting and it’s over a year! Coles takes a long time to get back to you and use many excuses why they dont. Coles are hard to talk to on the phone if your overseas even after requesting a phone number I could speak to someone.

If your looking for insurance please do not use Coles. Three dodge their responsibility to pay. What’s the point paying for insurance if tenants burn carpet and this is not insured! How is this normal living or breaking windows and punching holes in walls??? Please tell your friend and family AVOiD COLES INSURANCE!!!!!!!!

They become arrogant, difficult to contact and impossible to deal with. The premium has raised dramatically and it seems that they have adopted a policy of hiding from customer and ignoring him. Beware when getting a renewal from them as there is all set on automatic. You may choose another insurer but they will still keep taking money on a policy that already expired (even if you did not renew it!) and pretend ignorance. This is no longer insurance for elderly people! I have cancelled all remaining policies with them as they need to learn how capitalism works.

excuses not to pay you for eg. Malicious Damages by Tenants. Where the tenant spitefully smashed six or seven holes in bedroom ceiling with a 4x2 piece of timber. As well as Damages to the Teak flooring with white paint spatters everywhere. As the tenants without my permission, painted the interior walls of the home with no drop sheet, covering the Australian Teak flooring in paint drops all through the home. And also refused to pay for broken window panes broken by the tenant. GIO refused to pay for any damages caused by the Tenant after receiving over $7,000 for the year in payments supposedly to protect my property from damages by tenants. Well you would be a complete id*ot to ever insure your property with this deceitful, criminal corporation GIO Landlord Insurance. They will cost you heaps of waisted money, upset and worry, trying to get them to pay for damages done by your tenants, as your not protected and covered by this criminal corporation GIO Landlord Insurance.

they didn't allow the claim advising that it's a common property issue that needs to be claimed through the building's strata insurance. Complete rubbish. Cheap premium is obviously too good to be true. Going to try CHU next at renewal time. Our building strata insurance is with them so will be difficult for them to use the same argument. Will post back after first claim with them and see how they go.

did ask NRMA home insurance broker anout Sharecover , when I was taking insurance for my home, but they claim that NRMA doec not have anything to do with ShareCover. Maybe ?? They have quite a nice and easy to navigate web site and in 2023 I took a landlord insurance with ShareCover. Fortunately for me ( and them) I did not have any claims. Next year I tried to renew my Insurance but it turned out to be futile exercize. On their web site you can only go so far and then it is the end . You can start from beginning ... and so on. I opened a new account filled in the online form, put in the end my banking details . On the next page I was asked to review my details . Then I was given 2 options to submitt the page ( in which case the web site gets int a infinite " loop" and the only way out is to click on option 2 "Abandon transaction" . tried it few times during the week and it was always the same. Fortunatelly, I admitt that money was NOT taken out of my account . You can also contact them , via email , but it does not work as well. When you press "submit" the data you put in get erased and you are invited to do it again , and so on and so on. I hope if they are real company , someone will respond to this review.

to cover the repair because if she had a better roof it wouldn’t have been damaged in the storm!!!!! The whole time she thought she was insuring what she had. They also stated that because the property manager didn’t make official inspections every 12 months, then it’s not covered, even though there is no such requirement in the insurance contract. The client had to pay to repair it herself and managed to find a repairers totalling approx $45k, but originally the quotes were coming in at $600k, so had to leave the roof leaking especially waiting several months for an assessor to even come out, on the grounds that other customers had worse damage due to the cyclone storm. Oh, it gets worse… When the renewal came up, Vero said they refuse to cover her with a damaged roof, so she must repair it before the renewal date else lose coverage completely! Then they almost doubled the premium, even though they did not pay out anything on this first and only ever claim attempt, not even for the water damage, though they offered $1600 total compensation.

What is the point of insuring what you have, if it is not actually covered in reality, even though the contract says it is?

UPDATE: this site got us to agree to put our review on hold for 15 days while waiting for the business to contact us for mediation. We were so hopeful, but didn’t receive any contact whatsoever. Now have to file with AFCA & wait another 21 days. What a waste of 2 weeks. Steer clear of this insurer!
