I was in Sydney for a month so used this as my gym. When signing up to the contract, I was told that the fob payment is refundable when you bring it back (30AUD - see screenshots). To be sure that everything was to go smoothly as I was flying out of town, I sent an email to the gym to ask about fob return to make it easier for them. No response - even though it was 13 days before the end of contract. The staffed gym hours are untrue, when I went to return my fob on two occasions before my contract ended there was nobody there for my whole hour long workout both times. When I went to the gym most recently to return the fob there was nobody on the desk for 30 minutes and just a scrappy sheet of paper asking to call a mobile number if nobody is about, without an Aussie number I couldn’t call so had to wait. As soon as the old man working there finally came back I was met with an aggressive response to requesting the fob refund and told that the fob return rules were made clear to me - apparently (and not in writing) you must return the fob with an active membership in order to receive your fob return money. I’ve included the contract that Broadway Gym use below which states nothing about the fob return policy, so this is how they make an extra bit of cash from members. It is only 30AUD, but the behaviour of the older man working there was quite shocking.

It is clear why this is one of the cheapest gym in Sydney, staff are never there and the gym is left to manage itself, but I just want others to be aware of this scam so this gym doesn’t extract extra cash from future or current members.

SNAP FITNESS KENMORE AVOID. The ‘manager’ [Name Removed] completely misleads and lies about the memberships you sign up for and when you try to cancel he’ll charge you over $200 dollars. Avoid at all costs, he’s a liar.

payment of $430 despite their having ongoing system problems preventing members from gaining access for several days many times over the last few weeks. This rejection from a multinational company (Viva Leisure) who have many gyms Australia wide.

due to acc and returning to work. I asked to finish and would pay what was owing but due to my situation things got forgotten and not one person contacted me from any of the agencies concerned. That is healthy inspirations or debit success about 3 months later i got hit with a bill for 1,899.00 from them. Trying to sort this out has left me very angry as no one wants to know about it debit success passed buck back to healthy inspirations ive tried several times to get it sorted to no avail. No one wants to know me basically. Very sad. As to cost weekly which is roughly 30 odd dollars not value for money.

disregard of cycle maintenance by management is appalling. There are currently 3 bikes out of commission, many of the bike saddles are splitting, the locking mechanisms for the handle bars are often either stuck fast or unable to hold the bars steady, flywheels of some bikes do not rotate evenly, and straps are sometimes missing from the pedal baskets. While improvements, upgrades, and maintenance appears to be applied to most areas of this gym, there seems to be a total disregard for the bikes and the safety of members that wish to participate in the various cycle classes on offer.

The facility itself is well equipped and aligns with what one would expect from a premium fitness brand. On that basis, the product offering is fundamentally sound.

However, the customer journey exposed a meaningful gap between brand positioning and frontline delivery.

After completing a short-term introductory arrangement and receiving a discretionary extension from the club manager, I returned to request a further brief extension due to a simple administrative misunderstanding. I arrived in good faith, having already indicated clear intent to convert into a long-term membership.

With the club manager on leave, the acting staff member provided no escalation pathway, no discretionary consideration, and no attempt to retain a prospective long-term member. The only options presented were payment for a day pass or leaving the facility.

From a customer experience standpoint, this reflects a lack of empowered decision-making at the point of contact, particularly in non-material, retention-sensitive scenarios. For a premium membership model, this is a significant operational gap.

Additional observations include inconsistent equipment availability due to machines being out of service for extended periods, as well as general maintenance standards that do not consistently reflect the premium positioning of the brand.

In summary, the infrastructure is strong, but the service execution and customer retention approach do not yet align with the expectations set by the pricing and brand positioning.

For a premium fitness operator, consistency in empowerment, responsiveness, and service recovery is not optional—it is the product.

first timer I had no support very little was explained to me throughout the process very cut and dry paid good money for a service that provided very little in return more of a money grab then anything else is sexist puts more work into his male competitors on show day he was no where to be seen I had no idea where to go I was left standing around had to message him for help once again neglect and lack of support. I was feeling very unwell that day physically he had me so depleted that what little gas I had in the tank and muscle mass was gone I went on stage still feeling like this unfortunately I didn’t finish my routine he has since then taken no reasonability for his mistakes.

I have cut ties with these people since they made my first body building experience terrible.

I have since then found out that mr [Name Removed] isn’t even qualified to be giving out diet plans which would explain why I was unwell and still nursing myself back to health it’s also been alleged he has been entering clients that are not natural into federations that are. I feel [Name Removed] his wife is not natural and many more I’m sure.

Overall terrible coach for bodybuilding unprofessional cheat that doesn’t have you as his best interest no care factor and extremely sloppy

e.g you can use the gym facilities daily for $10:95c a week. They also have an awesome offer for those that want to join group exercise sessions. For example you literally pay $899 which literally covers you annually for group exercise sessions, including bringing a different friend each time for each of your sessions. That's awesome because for example you can share the annual fees with your friends. For example you can pay $500 & divide the other $400 among 3+ friends. So divide $900/52 weeks, which equals $17:30c a week. So you can literally attend up to 7 daily group sessions for $17:30c a week. Some gyms can charge a minimum $60 a week for group sessions. Don't get ripped off, go directly to crunch fitness. Also crunch fitness has plenty of onsight parking ️.

takeover last year, the showers have never been cleaned. They smell, and the grates are full of hair and scum. There used to be three hairdryers, but two were removed leaving one that is faulty and glows red with a burning smell. After 7 months of asking for a new hairdryer, nothing has changed. I have simply been told there is nothing that can be done, and the faulty hairdryer remains. I am worried someone may get electrocuted.

suddenly and unexpectedly relocate 350 kms away. I felt really bittersweet about cancelling my membership.

It's common practice for gyms to have cancellation policies that cover exceptional circumstances (like illness, injury and relocation) so I called to try and speak to someone. I knew I would have to pay my notice period and was prepared to have to cover that financially. I called twice to ask for cancellation forms and had to follow up with an email before I was sent one.

At first I was just told no, I had to pay for 12 months. Then after detailing my circumstances further I was told they could offer to pretend my membership was different, as long as I back paid them (which was DOUBLE my current rate) and pay a dishonour fee of $99. I left two messages but could only get emails back from a manager who wouldn't sign his name to them. I asked to see my cancellation policy, which under early termination states -"This Contract may be terminated at any time with the agreement of the Facility."

I emailed to reference this clause and asked again if someone would call me back. The manager called me on a Saturday so say that he had to read the policy and consider the circumstances and would call on Monday. I got an email on Monday, they could only off to change my membership, I had to back pay them and pay a dishonour fee. I called to discuss it, I felt surely if I could have a reasonable conversation with someone and they would understand that I have no choice in relocation and could never have seen this coming. I got the manager and asked if I understood the clause correctly, that we could come to an agreement. I explained the nature of my circumstances again and asked that they accept the cancellation. He refused, said that they were trying to help me by offering to change my contract and when I told them I wasn't interested in changing that i wanted to discuss early termination, he told me he was busy and had to go. I asked if I could call back at another time, he told me he would rather an email and actually hung up on me.

I'm so disappointed. The facility is wonderful and the staff are really great, but if you want to be treated like a person, not a contract, this is not the gym for you. The policy clearly states that they can terminate early, but it is at the discretion of management who give you the run around, hang up on you and are happy to call your behaviour 'dishonourable' should any unforeseen circumstance impact you. They have no policy for illness, injury or relocation (regardless of your circumstances) and you will be at the mercy of [name removed] the manager.

Absolutely filthy gym. Cob webs hanging off fans and walls etc. Equipment constantly broken including fans and aircon – Be kind to yourself and do not go to the gym.
