in regional NSW and I had to pay $22. After I moved to Sydney, I started using gym in Kingspark . I found out they charge $32 , after 6 weeks the home gym transfer. That was too much so, I found another Anytime and asked them first what was the the charge and they said $27. I waited for 2 months for gym transfer. Then, the new contract I got it has same rate of $32. I talked with receptionist and they were like it only goes up and it doesn't go down. So, I am paying $500 extra an year. I am gonna cancel and pay half. I think with remaining half I can pay for 9 month membership in Planet fitness or use no contract in Plus fitness for 16 dollars. I mean if you live like 2 minutes from gym and never gonna move probably gonna work but for other BEWARE OF THIS SCAM!! I guess.

I feel so comfortable , confident and a huge sense of belonging. I especially love Erin Harris Zumba class. It is so much fun !! All the instructors are incredible! I could easily spend all day at Fernwood. Going to classes, catching up with friends in the cafe or massage chairs , and before doing group classes . I also love just going in and doing a quiet gym session and reading my book with a cuppa afterwards . I'm looking forward to doing the Mothers day classic with Fernwood .

I was in Sydney for a month so used this as my gym. When signing up to the contract, I was told that the fob payment is refundable when you bring it back (30AUD - see screenshots). To be sure that everything was to go smoothly as I was flying out of town, I sent an email to the gym to ask about fob return to make it easier for them. No response - even though it was 13 days before the end of contract. The staffed gym hours are untrue, when I went to return my fob on two occasions before my contract ended there was nobody there for my whole hour long workout both times. When I went to the gym most recently to return the fob there was nobody on the desk for 30 minutes and just a scrappy sheet of paper asking to call a mobile number if nobody is about, without an Aussie number I couldn’t call so had to wait. As soon as the old man working there finally came back I was met with an aggressive response to requesting the fob refund and told that the fob return rules were made clear to me - apparently (and not in writing) you must return the fob with an active membership in order to receive your fob return money. I’ve included the contract that Broadway Gym use below which states nothing about the fob return policy, so this is how they make an extra bit of cash from members. It is only 30AUD, but the behaviour of the older man working there was quite shocking.

It is clear why this is one of the cheapest gym in Sydney, staff are never there and the gym is left to manage itself, but I just want others to be aware of this scam so this gym doesn’t extract extra cash from future or current members.

Very good range of equipments, staff are genuinely supersuper friendly and helpful, as well as motivating.

handled a business card and told to email to cancel, no explanation why I could not cancel in person. I then emailed and no response. I called but no one picked up the phone therefore, I emailed again following up and received a response email 3 days later with no name on the response. Since that date my account has been charged 3x in total. I called the business for 4 weeks straight, every day and multiple times during the day and not once did they answer or pick up ever. Therefore , after calling again and no answer, I emailed asking them to stop taking money and remove the CC from their database. Instead of getting a response email confirming it's all sorted, they took another payment the next day. So instead of confirming a customers cancellation, they just take more money. Deceptive conduct as customers can't get any service or answers as they just keeping taking money with no repercussion. Can't close the membership in store, can't call to get information and can't get an email confirming anything / closure. Another $150 and had to go to the bank and close my CC and rearrange everything. I can't imagine how many other people have had this issue leaving. Save your time and energy and find a real gym that can run a business and provide actual transparent service.

due to acc and returning to work. I asked to finish and would pay what was owing but due to my situation things got forgotten and not one person contacted me from any of the agencies concerned. That is healthy inspirations or debit success about 3 months later i got hit with a bill for 1,899.00 from them. Trying to sort this out has left me very angry as no one wants to know about it debit success passed buck back to healthy inspirations ive tried several times to get it sorted to no avail. able to attend the gym. A few weeks later, I received a call advising that my membership hadn’t been initiated and that fortnightly payments were about to begin. During that call, I clearly requested that payments not be started due to my injury and uncertainty around when I could return.

Despite this, I’ve since discovered that multiple payments have been taken from my credit card. When I contacted the gym, I was told nothing could be done because I hadn’t cancelled in person or via email—despite already explaining my situation and asking for payments not to proceed.

When I then asked to cancel, I was told they would “make an exception” and process it over the phone, but I would lose all money paid, even though I couldn’t use the service.

This feels unfair and poorly handled. I expected a more reasonable and customer-focused approach given the circumstances.

disregard of cycle maintenance by management is appalling. There are currently 3 bikes out of commission, many of the bike saddles are splitting, the locking mechanisms for the handle bars are often either stuck fast or unable to hold the bars steady, flywheels of some bikes do not rotate evenly, and straps are sometimes missing from the pedal baskets. While improvements, upgrades, and maintenance appears to be applied to most areas of this gym, there seems to be a total disregard for the bikes and the safety of members that wish to participate in the various cycle classes on offer.

Only gym on the beaches that includes Cold plunge, a decent sauna and unlimited classes

After permanently relocating to an area with no nearby Fitness First clubs, I requested to cancel my membership due to lack of reasonable access. Despite this, there was no attempt to offer a fair or reasonable solution. Every interaction felt transactional, scripted, and focused solely on enforcing fees, rather than understanding real-life circumstances. There was no empathy, no flexibility, and no genuine effort to help — only a rigid insistence on payment, regardless of the situation. A company that prioritises contracts and fees over people may protect its revenue, but it loses trust. Natasha was very pleasant and friendly during our phone conversation, demonstrating a kind personality, and she was cooperative and empathetic toward me. I appreciate her efforts, understanding that she has limitations and that there are supervisors above her. However, I feel it is important to express some concerns about the overall professionalism at World Gym Australia, especially regarding the safety and well-being of women at North Lakes World Gym. Unfortunately, my personal information was shared with outsiders, and my full name was disclosed in a Google review response, despite informing staff that I am a victim of domestic violence and require sensitive handling. I have experienced stalking and harassment, which have significantly affected my well-being. It was distressing to observe groups gathering and following me around the gym, creating an environment that felt unsafe. Additionally, I noticed some security cameras were not operational and observed activities that appeared suspicious. I am also concerned about my ban from the gym, which seems to be aimed at protecting the gym's reputation. As a 51-year-old woman, my primary focus is on my personal journey—sharing this account was not for personal gain. I believe that respect and safety for women should be top priorities. Unfortunately, I feel that my safety was compromised, and I hope the gym will consider implementing further protective measures. I encourage others to report any unethical behaviour to help foster a safer environment for everyone. I have also noticed that some individuals at the gym appear intoxicated, and some follow me around, which I find concerning. These individuals may lack respect or proper conduct, and it is important to ensure a respectful environment. Overall, most of the staff are rude and disrespectful. They lack manners, and Mr. Kurt Mudford, the owner, is arrogant, rude, and unprofessional. The personal trainers don't practice what they preach, and the machines are broken and not working; sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. Very dirty toilets; when I was there, the facility was filthy and never cleaned. There are people who go there with no good intentions. You can see they’re not into fitness; they are there to look up women. This place's underworld, garbage-filled carparks, is very dirty most of the time. You often see bottles of alcohol. I am concerned that now young children go to the gym unsupervised and are exposed to dangerous people.

e.g you can use the gym facilities daily for $10:95c a week. They also have an awesome offer for those that want to join group exercise sessions. For example you literally pay $899 which literally covers you annually for group exercise sessions, including bringing a different friend each time for each of your sessions. That's awesome because for example you can share the annual fees with your friends. For example you can pay $500 & divide the other $400 among 3+ friends. So divide $900/52 weeks, which equals $17:30c a week. So you can literally attend up to 7 daily group sessions for $17:30c a week. Some gyms can charge a minimum $60 a week for group sessions. Don't get ripped off, go directly to crunch fitness. Also crunch fitness has plenty of onsight parking ️.

suddenly and unexpectedly relocate 350 kms away. I felt really bittersweet about cancelling my membership.

It's common practice for gyms to have cancellation policies that cover exceptional circumstances (like illness, injury and relocation) so I called to try and speak to someone. I knew I would have to pay my notice period and was prepared to have to cover that financially. I called twice to ask for cancellation forms and had to follow up with an email before I was sent one.

At first I was just told no, I had to pay for 12 months. Then after detailing my circumstances further I was told they could offer to pretend my membership was different, as long as I back paid them (which was DOUBLE my current rate) and pay a dishonour fee of $99. I left two messages but could only get emails back from a manager who wouldn't sign his name to them. I asked to see my cancellation policy, which under early termination states -"This Contract may be terminated at any time with the agreement of the Facility."

I emailed to reference this clause and asked again if someone would call me back. The manager called me on a Saturday so say that he had to read the policy and consider the circumstances and would call on Monday. I got an email on Monday, they could only off to change my membership, I had to back pay them and pay a dishonour fee. I called to discuss it, I felt surely if I could have a reasonable conversation with someone and they would understand that I have no choice in relocation and could never have seen this coming. I got the manager and asked if I understood the clause correctly, that we could come to an agreement. I explained the nature of my circumstances again and asked that they accept the cancellation. He refused, said that they were trying to help me by offering to change my contract and when I told them I wasn't interested in changing that i wanted to discuss early termination, he told me he was busy and had to go. I asked if I could call back at another time, he told me he would rather an email and actually hung up on me.

I'm so disappointed. The facility is wonderful and the staff are really great, but if you want to be treated like a person, not a contract, this is not the gym for you. The policy clearly states that they can terminate early, but it is at the discretion of management who give you the run around, hang up on you and are happy to call your behaviour 'dishonourable' should any unforeseen circumstance impact you. They have no policy for illness, injury or relocation (regardless of your circumstances) and you will be at the mercy of [name removed] the manager.
