extraordinarily helpful. She went out of her way to find what I was asking about and the issue was dealt with. During the conversation, I also made a query about accessibility issues and some needs I may have. Again, Katelyn went out of her way to help in a most professional and helpful manner, kind and cheerful. The upshot was that I received a Medical needs/Mobility questionnaire that covers all possible contingencies that might arise due to some health issues. Katelyn’s comment was that she liked to have everything sorted and boxes ticked, in order to ensure we have the best possible time. It was a most enjoyable, productive and reassuring conversation. Thanks Katelyn.

Be very cautious dealing with Global Work & Travel. What stood out wasn’t just one issue, but how GWT's process is structured - all the risk sits… Read more

with the customer.

Things can move very quickly from an initial enquiry to paying a deposit, even while important points are still not fully clear, such as eligibility, conditions that need to be met, and exactly what you’re committing to. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and momentum, but at that point you’re being asked to pay before you really know if the service can go ahead.

The reality is that once you’ve paid a deposit, you don’t know how your circumstances might change. Visa outcomes, health issues, or life events can all affect whether you can proceed.

When that happens, this is where GWT’s approach causes the most stress. You can find yourself stuck with credits that aren’t actually usable in your situation, and no realistic way to get your money back. In practice, you end up out of pocket and carrying the financial risk.

Trying to resolve things afterwards is also difficult. It often turns into long back-and-forth communication with no clear outcome. Where there’s disagreement about what was said or agreed, there isn’t clear access to the underlying information needed to properly verify it, which makes it very hard to challenge their position.

Looking at other reviews, this doesn’t appear to be a one-off. A similar pattern comes up repeatedly. Once payment has been made, the incentive shifts and the risk sits with the customer, not the company. That naturally affects things like how suitable or well-aligned placements are.

The key takeaway is this:

- Don’t pay anything until you are completely clear on what exactly you’re getting and whether you can actually proceed. - Confirm eligibility and any conditions upfront - Get key details in writing, don’t rely on verbal conversations - Understand exactly how refunds, cancellations and credits work in practice - Question anything that isn’t clear - Most importantly, slow the process down

These programs are designed to feel exciting and time-sensitive, which makes it easy to commit quickly.

Take a step back and make sure everything is clear before any money changes hand, because once you’ve paid, you are the one carrying the risk.

Although my husband and myself enjoyed our South African and Victoria Falls tour with Holiday Max some of the places we visited we would not have… Read more

chosen to go which were included and paid for on the trip. Some of my thoughts are as follows: 1. The small mini van {Toyota HiAce} which we travelled in was not adequate enough to fit the 9 passengers, simply because the last long bench at the back was too uncomfortable due to the condition of the roads and the number of hours travelled and the poor suspension. 2. The tuk tuk ride in the backstreets through the villages were very uncomfortable and quite scary, yet again due to the condition of the roads. This is something I would suggest you do away with OR put it as an option. 3. The wine tasting at Lynx was not to my taste as I am not a wine drinker and my husband who knows his wine thought they were too young to serve let alone buy a bottle and this was the general consensus of the group. 3. We very much enjoyed the Sunset Set cruise on the Zambesi River and enjoyed the drinks and snacks which were provided. The river boat ride on the Chobe River was in a flat bottomed boat slightly larger than a dinghy when there were other larger appropriate boats doing the same thing. 4. in regards to the safari tours I would suggest that the company provide a two step ladder to enable the more senior and smaller people an easier method of getting in and out of the open jeeps 5. Another recommendation would be for the travel agency to make travelers aware that we are crossing boarders and some boarders require payment in US$ CASH for multiple entry visas. 6. You are expected to tip for most services provided and sometimes a compulsory Service Fee and VAT fees added. Zimbabwe tips are usually in US$ requiring you to carry the equivalent A$100-150 to cover these extra expenses. 7. All the hotels were ***** and breakfasts were very well included, something for everyone. Overall it was an experience worth having and would highly recommend it to anyone who has South Africa on their bucket list - but you must consider being fit and able to climb up and down open jeeps when visiting the National Parks. There are many companies doing similar tours both in Australia and Africa and would recommend you do a bit of research before committing yourself to one travel agency.

Great adventure with good and not so good things happening. The Spirit of the Outback train was not as described in the photos of our itinerary. … Read more

The picture we received had two sleeping pods side by side (like in aeroplanes), however the beds were foot to foot. Very misleading. The hallway was curved and so one door to our sleeping area had enough room to open when the bed was down, but the other door to our area would only allow the door to partially open. Two people could not pass in the hallway so one had to back out to let the other pass. Meals and service in the dining car were excellent. Accommodation at Saltbush Retreat was excellent and Ron and Wendy were great hosts who could not do enough for us. We could not fault our stay with them. Long trip on bus of 165 klms each way to Winton and back and not one of the best days. Nogo Station and Stockman's Hall of Fame both were excellent. Qantas Museum and Wing Walk, Cruise up the Thomson River including campfire meal and Cobb & Co Stagecoach experiences were enjoyable. Smithy's Outback Dinner and Show had lovely meals although the entertainment was very average. The way the itinerary was presented in a sleeve was great although there was insufficient information regarding the activities we had booked. Flew home and what a great flight - 2 hours. We were met at Brisbane Airport by a bus which took us all to the airport to collect our baggage. Australian Escapes travel consultant Sandy was always accessible to answer any questions, however her attention to detail could have been better. Overall, an adventure to be remembered.

invoice that clearly, boldly stated that payment of balance not required until June 2026. In January, the story changed. We were now required to pay a further deposit of $12000 immediately to secure our trip and, by the way, our flight costs had increased by a total of $4800 despite initial assurances that the quote definitely covered our requested flights. We cancelled in January (9 months ahead of planned trip) and were informed that a $1000 penalty would apply, and that the balance of our deposit would take up to 12 weeks to refund. This despite assurances from the actual cruise line, the airlines and the accommodation venue that any cancellation that far ahead would not, from them at least, require a penalty. We regard ecruising's approach to be classic bait-and-switch misleading advertising and have lodged a submission with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission accordingly.

relative recommended Wendy Wu we looked at the Wendy Wu (Australia) site then contacted our travel agent (Jonkers Travel in Morayfield). We gave Jonkers Travel and the staff at Wendy Wu Tours very short notice (March) to book a trip for us to travel in May. Never having been to China before we gave both parties lots of questions regarding many aspects of the tour (particularly my slow walking) and they were both very prompt with their replies and liaising between each other on our behalf. It was a mammoth task for Wendy Wu Tours getting it all organised for us in such a short time. Instead of doing a usual group tour, Wendy Wu recommended we choose to do a private tour because I was concerned about the possibility that I would not be able to keep up with a group. I cannot thank them enough for suggesting the private tour as it made the whole trip so much easier for me. The service was excellent throughout with great hotels, private vehicles, a total of 7 fabulous lady guides who catered to both our needs (my walking and our dietary requirements) first class train travel, VIP treatment (so we did not hang around in queues). There was just a couple of things that I will suggest Wendy Wu investigate that would have added to the trip but overall, we can thoroughly recommend Wendy Wu Tours for your trip to China. Thank you to the Wendy Wu Tours staff in Australia and China for their professionalism in their jobs and making our first trip to China enjoyable and memorable. Please thank all the guides – Nancy in Beijing, Louisa in Xian, Joy in Chengdu, Lilly in Chongqing, Shirley from 3 Gorges Dam to Zhangjiajie, Mia in Zhangjiajie and Dawn in Shanghai. All of them were thoughtful, helpful and excellent. Tour: Gems of China Private Tour with Wendy Wu Tours 16 – 31 May 2026.

away, we discovered there was a planned power outage in the street from 8:30am to 3:30pm, which ultimately wasn't restored until around 5pm. We had no power for virtually the entire day, meaning we couldn't properly use or enjoy the property we had paid almost $2,000 to stay in.

When we contacted Professional Holiday Homes, we were told they were unaware because the property is owner-owned. We also asked whether a late checkout on Sunday could be accommodated so we could recover some of the time we had lost, but this was refused.

The only compensation offered was $200. For a stay costing almost $2,000, I found this completely disproportionate to the impact of losing the only full day of our weekend away.

While the outage itself may have been outside their direct control, their communication, response and willingness to compensate were not. Based on this experience, I would be hesitant to book with Professional Holiday Homes.

was not disappointed. The scenery was amazing especially to see how green everything was. Our driver, Chips and his lovely wife Leanne keeps us on track (and entertained!). We met some wonderful people from Cheryl at Barcaldine and her visit to Mitchell Grass Retreat Longreach where Tanya and David looked after us. Our time at Tooguuna Farmstay with Fiona and Adam was so interesting and the food amazing. The only downside was the train trip at the begining of the tour - the sleeper cabin was very small and it was almost impossible to sleep with all the noise and vibration of the train at night. The tour was originally 8 days but due to Queensland Rail trackwork, we left a day early - Fun Over 50 covered the extra day so no additional costs to guests.
