but it completely failed me when I needed it most.
I was recently involved in a hit-and-run while stopped behind stationary vehicles at a traffic light. An SUV suddenly came from my right and crashed into the rear side of my car, then took off before I could identify it.
At first, I thought I was lucky because the dash cam had recorded the incident and the footage appeared to be there. However, when I got home and tried to transfer the video to my computer, the file was completely corrupted and unsalvageable.
A dash cam is meant to protect you in situations exactly like this. Instead, this device let me down at a critical moment.
Very disappointed and would not recommend this product to anyone.

see number plates especially with the 4K surround model. There is a few negatives though, but image quality is 90% of what matters to a dash camera. This camera comes with no instructions and is one of the most complicated cameras I've had to set up. There are only 4 SD cards that Navman recommends you use with this camera and they are all hard to find and expensive. The screen is terrible . Connecting to the App is ridicules, requiring you to scan an code and set up the connection every time. The screen sits flat on the window , angling it down at the floor, the PC app never works so you have to use third party software to view images.

reset it. The other thing it does is not connecting to wifi to down load. Downloading times are so excruciatingly slow, it’s painful. The most annoying thing is thinking it’s recording when it’s not. I paid over $500 for it. I would not recommend at all. It’s not reliable.

Navman MiVue 155 Safety Dash Cam is a bit deficient – I had a Navman 540 dash cam for several years and it worked OK. I know that Choice magazine doesn't recommend any dash cam as all of the ones that… Read more
they've tested to date have poor night time performance. I had enough Telstra points and so I got a Navman MiVue 155 Safety mode for free. I know that I pay for it in my telephone bills and that nothing is really 'free' these days. So I updated and have installed the 155. There is no instruction manual, as is so often the case. You have to download a pdf file is you want to read the owner manual. It is on a par with the 540 model, but with a few added features, a wider screen and two menu pages with easy to understand control buttons. To date, the image quality is OK. My main beef with the 155 is that Navman have obviously cut costs (Ha! I got it for nix) by having a primitive mounting system, that is very stiff to move and seems to be a permanent mount on the windscreen. While you can remove the camera from the mount, you cannot remove the mount from the windscreen as it is mounted using an adhesive electrostatic plastic sheet and adhesive pads at the base of the camera mount, that stick to the plastic sheet. At least the 540 had a suction mount with an easily moveable mounting gimbal system. While it often fell off when the temperature inside the car was too hot, I got around that problem by using a 3M adhesive plastic disc. At least Navman haven't changed the cable. so that I have kept my old one in place. A good thing is that with the 155 you get a 32Gb mini SC card, which is something I didn't get when I bought the 540. If only the 155 fitted the 540 mounting system, but I tried and it doesn't, which is a shame.

It got sent in for repairs under warranty and probably lasted about 6 months before it all started again. I had incorrectly blamed the Navman product as being faulty. As it turns out after many years and with the help of the Navman team the problem all stems from the professional installation team at Autobarn. My sincere apologies to Navman.
Worked fine for 2-3 years. Playback easy enough on the inbuilt screen. Good quality footage. Suction cup mount tends to fall off on hot days. Conked out just recently (it suddenly refused to read the SD card).
great machine – Works as expected and when I updated to new iphone automatically picked up all the latest traffic lights etc.

to Queensland a breeze back in 2007. Second one, not bad to use, used it to navigate the wineries of Adelaide and SA for a couple of years before someone decided they needed it more than me and stole it out of the car. Thought I'd buy a bigger one to replace it. The MY690LMMT. Nice big screen. Same relatively easy operation / software. Mostly very accurate and finds addresses easily. Battery? Hopeless as everyone else says but it lives in my vehicle and is never handheld so no biggie there. My problems began just around the 12 month mark when the screen became unresponsive and inaccurate to touch. I returned the unit to JB HiFi and it was sent back from Navman shortly afterwards working OK again. Here we are just over 12 months since and same problem. Screen either not responding to input or at times if you want to use one letter when attempting address input you have to deliberately use the key next to it. I have rebooted. I have performed the factory reset as described on the Navman help pages. No deal. I'm certainly not going to open it up or send it to a tech. I like this product (line) but I don't consider 12 months of proper operation before needing to go back to the manufacturer for service an appropriate lifespan.
Thanks to this site and the help of NAVMAN / MITAC customer relations team my problems have been completely resolved. I now have a replacement unit which is functioning (and in use as I type...my wife has it) perfectly. Navman's rep guided me through the process of resetting the unit before requesting I send it back to them. In a very short time they discovered the unit was faulty and generously replaced it even though the warranty was (only just) expired. Top marks to all concerned and a special thank you to Ronel my customer liason contact.

well, but not long after that, several issues emerged. The screen became unresponsive, slow response time, loading was sluggish, and the operating system was problematic. Additionally, the unit would occasionally switch off, presumably due to a weak or small battery.
Throughout the years, I hoped that updating the unit with the latest software would resolve these problems. However, in early 2023, the screen became permanently unresponsive, and when it unexpectedly worked, it would freeze up again after another touch.
I've already tried the following solutions to resolve the issue, but none of them worked: - Installed the latest update. - Fully charged it overnight (the green light indicated a full charge). - Performed a hard reset (by poking it). - Attempted a Smart System Recovery.
Navman's service department is asking for $90 to repair it, even though the machine is still relatively new.
Anyway, I believe it's time to consider a new navigator and give their competitors a chance.
Use the correct 128Gb card – Easy to set up. Had trouble with the SD cards for a while then found out it didn't like the particular 128Gb card. Navman provided a list of compatible cards so it all works well and it seems to be a good little camera.
Absolute garbage. It always lets me down when I need it the most. It randomly shuts off and produces corrupted files. I almost got into an accident and I wanted to check the other car's registration only to find out it wasn't even recording at all.

caught out at least twice in the North Island, once by the new Transmission Gully road out of Wellington and again by a new expressway tunnel in Auckland. Coming out of Wellington in the dark on a wet night with NavMan telling me to do a U turn on a four lane motorway wasn't a high point. Most of the time the unit still works well and we always got to the intended destination even when I didn't always agree with it's chosen route. For longer distance trips it would be nice to be able to chose a route via specific towns rather than the alternate one NavMan picks. The unit can be a little slow in reorientation after an incorrect turn which can cause some frustration in busy traffic . Can't comment on battery life as I always have it plugged in via the lighter outlet. It has always stayed in place for days at a time while travelling and I do find the screen easy to read. The interface does feel a bit dated and clunky. All in all though the unit has more than repaid it's cost over the last couple of years. If the maps were current I'd give a higher rating.

mind would design a dash cam that has the power cord facing up seems ridiculous to me. The screen is small but will see how the footage is, if it’s clear or not looks grainy so far. The 5 stickers for holding the power cord tidy out of the way is a token gesture of complete uselessness.
So far not impressed once again with Navman!!
Worked well until the screen started to crack from the heat of being mounted on the dash. Now after calling Navman I'm looking for a new GPS as Navman no longer repair these items, even the ones that are still under warranty. Not very happy.

quality with all the features I want at a reasonable price). - gps speed display (shown on videos and on screen, even when the display is ‘off’). - parking mode for 24hr protection.
Things I don’t like: - suction cup mount for the camera (I fabricated my own mount to make it more secure and less bulky/obtrusive). - the optional SmartBox power supply for parking mode is an expensive additional item (I suggest shopping online for a better deal).
Note that the back camera is meant to be mounted inside the rear window. I have a ute with tool boxes blocking the rear window so I bought a usb extension cable and mounted the rear camera under the back of the tray. I discovered that the Navman rear camera (model A30) will fit perfectly inside a waterproof case designed for a GoPro Hero Session. You can pick one up online for $25.

other place with Left Hand Drive vehicles and not in Australa. The connection point, control button and the indicator LED are all not visible to the driver and only visible to the front passenger. The LED indicates what mode it is in (Charging, Recording, WiFi, Error etc) but the driver wouldn't see any of it. The unit is a permanent fix to the windscreen and can't even be removed to have look from Driver Seat.
When you are viewing the video on the Mobile App, you can't go the part of the video you want quickly. You have to sit through the whole video until the part you want. You can't fast forward or go to the section by sliding the curser. If you try to move to the area quickly, it will jump to the beginning of the video again. This could be a software issue but it is still a problem until fixed.
Time to time it stops working and asks to reformat the SD Card. That means all records are deleted. This is risky as it could happen at the critical time without warning. When I contacted Navman about this problem, I was asked to try different branded cards. That means I need to buy more cards with more expenses without even knowing whether it will work. I was using Sandisk High Endurance card.
All in all not happy with the product.
