on the internet, for a country as logistically complex as China, requires a degree of trust. I had my reservations. Those reservations didn't survive the first day.
From the very beginning, my trip planner Nikki Xia was exceptional. She put together a detailed, thoughtful itinerary for nine of us travelling across Guangzhou, Yangshuo and Zhangjiajie over ten days — a group with mixed ages, different energy levels and varying mobility needs. It's not a simple itinerary to build or to execute, and Nikki managed the planning phase with complete professionalism and genuine flexibility. Every question was answered, every adjustment accommodated.
On the ground, we were in equally good hands. Linda guided us through Guangzhou with warmth and deep local knowledge. Alice took care of us in Guilin — the Yangshuo and Li River experience was a highlight of the entire trip, and her guidance made it. Tracey in Zhangjiajie was outstanding — professional, adaptable, and brilliant at managing a large group through one of China's most spectacular and logistically demanding destinations.
The hallmark of a great guide is flexibility, and all three had it in abundance. When plans needed to shift, they shifted. When someone in the group needed a different pace or approach, it was accommodated without fuss. There was a warmth and generosity to the service across the board that made the whole experience feel personal rather than transactional.
For context: I had previously done a DIY trip to China — ten days in Shanghai and Beijing — and I managed. But managing is exactly the right word. Every logistics problem was mine to solve. Every uncertainty about transport, timing and language fell on me. It was fine, but it was also tiring in a way that quietly took the edge off the experience. Travelling with Odynovo this year was a completely different proposition. The logistics simply disappeared. I could be present. I could enjoy China rather than administer it.
I intend to travel to China repeatedly in the coming years. I will be using Odynovo every time. If you're on the fence about whether a guided tour is worth it for China, I would say — from direct personal experience of both approaches — that it absolutely is, and Odynovo is the agency to use. Ask for Nikki Xia to plan your trip.

terms and conditions, which is when I realized you can't actually get your money back. They also prefer to do everything over the phone—especially payments—using high-pressure techniques, and then they only email you the full details after the fact.
Due to health reasons and their high-pressure methods, I wanted a full refund but was denied. I would not recommend going with Global Work and Travel. If you do, make sure you read the very complex terms and conditions on their website thoroughly first. Even then, after this experience, I’d prefer to do it on my own.

Even though many email to follow ups the matter, Holiday Max didnot give me the Clear day to refund and delay processing of refund and claiming about their suppliers. They also gave me strict rules to pay the cost in their time frames other wise the trip will automatic kick out in cancellation and all the 1st payment will lost. I have no choice as they caused me Financial lost and Inconvenience , I have to further this matter with VCAT with no more wasting time.

invoice that clearly, boldly stated that payment of balance not required until June 2026. In January, the story changed. We were now required to pay a further deposit of $12000 immediately to secure our trip and, by the way, our flight costs had increased by a total of $4800 despite initial assurances that the quote definitely covered our requested flights. We cancelled in January (9 months ahead of planned trip) and were informed that a $1000 penalty would apply, and that the balance of our deposit would take up to 12 weeks to refund. This despite assurances from the actual cruise line, the airlines and the accommodation venue that any cancellation that far ahead would not, from them at least, require a penalty. We regard ecruising's approach to be classic bait-and-switch misleading advertising and have lodged a submission with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission accordingly.

The Tours that were included were spectacular, especially the Gordon River Cruise and Cradle Mountain. The itinerary information provided for every step of the way was extremely helpful.
Our only challenge was the Budget Hire Car in Hobart, which resulted in fees paid unnecessarily for items covered under Travel Insurance. Their customer service was not great at explaining and providing clarity. Australian Escapes responded to my call for assistance almost immediately and have pursued the matter to a satisfactory resolution.
The accommodation chosen for us was conveniently located and mostly well appointed for us to self cater where possible and of a high standard.

Cruise Lines. ALl booked through ROL Cruises, a booking company we have used with total satisfaction for a number of years now. The Borneo element of our holiday was, in fact, a river based safari. Everything about it was nothing short of excellent. The hotels and lodges were first class, as was the food and service. The 2 guides, Michael and Eric were similarly first class and both friendly and knowledgeable, Thanks to them bpth for making it happen. It would be difficult to single our just one aspect of our trip as being above the rest but, if we had to choose, the day we saw the Pygmy Elephants would be right up there. But them, so would the orangutans that we saw, and, of course, the monkeys, birds and the crocodiles we saw along the riverside. But having lunch with a local family was an good chance to meet local people and enjoy the children, a very thoughtful thing to do. This was not our first experience of Wendy Wu Tours. In 2013 we toured China for 1 month and saw everything we wanted to see. The guide then Joy was also excellent. Brilliant! Everything about Wendy Wu i s'brilliant' i.e. the organisation, admin, attention to detail but especially the pre-tour documentation that tells you all about the places visited and the level of fitness needed. Huge thanks to Wendy Wu Tours for a fantastic and most enjoyable experience.
