the Capalaba store.
To be completely transparent, I was a very reluctant participant at the start. I wasn’t convinced we even needed a kitchen revamp and I was absolutely adamant that I wanted only white cupboards and a white benchtop. That was the first time (and definitely not the last!) I heard Tracie gently ask, “Are you sure?”
What followed was nothing short of mind-blowing.
Tracie introduced ideas we had never even considered — and somehow they turned out to be exactly what we wanted. There were no pushy sales pitches, no pressure, just patience and expertise. She worked with us while we dithered over decisions and she very quickly realised that I’m a visual person. Instead of telling me how something would look, she showed me. She patiently walked me through layouts and finishes, waiting for me to catch up with what she already knew would work beautifully.
Tracie didn’t just help us choose cupboard facings and benchtops — she completely reimagined our space. Working solely from our badly hand-drawn scribbles (and without ever seeing our home in person!), she suggested shifting a wall by 60cm. That one change transformed how we could use the entire wall and dramatically improved the functionality of our kitchen.
She helped us design not only our dream kitchen, but also a butler’s pantry/laundry that is both stunning and incredibly practical. We knew we had absolutely nailed the design when I realised I can literally spin in place to unpack the dishwasher — no more walking all over the kitchen to put things away. It just works.
Once everything was selected, checked and rechecked, installation was booked in. Unfortunately — and through no fault of KUB — the installation coincided with Cyclone Alfred and we lost power for five days. Yet even then, KUB went above and beyond. Bruce turned up with his generator and radio and just kept building cupboards like an absolute professional (and tolerated having a 5 and 1 year old under his feet). That level of commitment and dedication speaks volumes.
We did experience a couple of minor hiccups — the porcelain backsplash didn’t align perfectly, and the stone contractor installed stone instead of porcelain in the pantry. But once again, Tracie handled everything immediately and without hesitation. There was no argument, no defensiveness — just swift action to have everything corrected as soon as possible at no additional cost to us.
When the kitchen and pantry were complete, Tracie personally came out to inspect everything herself to ensure it was perfect — and it absolutely was.
We cannot thank Tracie and the entire KUB team enough. They didn’t just renovate our kitchen — they transformed our home. Their patience, creativity, professionalism, and genuine care made what could have been a stressful process an incredibly positive experience.
If you’re considering a renovation, do yourself a favour and visit KUB Capalaba. You’ll be in the very best hands.

up on the day to obtain a 10% discount. They make out like nothing is a hassle and can be easily done, although this was not the case. The designer session felt a bit rushed. She didn’t have all the door handles or colour options available. I only found out later (when i went to the showroom) that the colour of handles I wanted were not available in the style – it is very limited. We demolished our kitchen ourself (to speed up the process) and built a wall as they will not do anything structural, so had to find a carpenter top help with that. We wanted the kitchen completed by Xmas, which it half was after we pushed them. They were so slow to reply and we had to chase them/beg them to come out to do the measure. I suspect that they use overseas draftsperson as we would often get emails late at night eg 10pm with revised plans. The design included a linen cupboard along the hallway. The designer (and installer) did not factor in that we would want to run our existing cornice down the hallway. When they installed it, it was too high and the cornice would not fit. I had to pay another trade to fix this (by lowering the cabinet) as they were useless. I asked for extra storage above the linen cupboard because it’s a LINEN cupboard and I wanted to store pillows etc. The depth of the overhead cupboard was so shallow about 30 cm deep compared to 54cm underneath. Upon install, I thought there had been an error as there was just dead space behind the overhead cabinet. I checked the plans and this was very unclear - the depth was not stated. I had assumed that the depth would be the same as the cupboard underneath given I had paid an additional fee for this. The above head cupboard was essentially useless. I complained about this and was told that its an OHS issue as the cupboard would be too heavy. This was complete nonsense and I paid another tradie to re-make the overhead cupboards at a proper depth for storage. When my kitchen was delivered it arrived without any protection. A lot of the cabinets were damaged. It was also missing some hinges for the pull out bin and the correct sized handles for a pull out spice drawer(the handles were too big). Given the install occurred in late November, this took weeks and weeks for replacements to arrive and then I had to beg the installer to come back and fit them, which he eventually did in February 2026. I had a semi complete kitchen for 2 months after the install. Kinsman try to wash their hands of any issues and push onto the installer even though the installers work for Kinsman – use their ipad and software to communicate etc and report issues. The communication is very poor. I would suggest using a smaller company or going through a builder to avoid issues like – they didn’t tell me that they don’t include (and can’t provide) substrates (right before I was getting stone delivered) and can’t build any bulk heads. They suggest that the installer will be able to do that, but when I asked him, he was not able to assist with either – again another trade I had to source myself to complete the job. Whilst the finished product looks good, I could not recommend them. The process is TERRIBLE and caused much unnecessary stress and frustration.

the initial consultation through to final installation, the entire process was smooth, well organised, and professionally managed. The team really took the time to understand what we wanted and helped guide us through the layout, materials, and overall design to make the most of our space.
We had a clear vision for a modern, functional kitchen with custom cabinetry and high-quality finishes, and they absolutely delivered. The attention to detail was excellent, and the final result exceeded our expectations.
Communication was another standout. We were kept informed throughout the entire renovation, timelines were clearly outlined, and everything was completed on schedule — which made the whole experience feel stress-free.
If you’re in Doncaster or surrounding Melbourne suburbs and looking for a reliable kitchen renovation company that delivers premium results, I’d highly recommend Smith & Smith Kitchens.

received. From the very beginning, the process has been less than satisfactory. When we were in the design phase, the designer seemed more concerned about their soccer game than helping us. This lack of attention to detail carried over into the installation phase, where we were told we were short on cupboards and had to revisit the designs all over again. The warranty process has been equally frustrating. The customer service and support have been disappointing, to say the least. We've had our kitchen for only a few years, and the laminate has already started bubbling badly. To make matters worse, the colour we originally chose has been discontinued, and their suggestion to match it with what they have in stock is not feasible since it won't match the existing colour in the middle of the kitchen. Additionally, we have had ongoing issues with soft closing hinges, drawer runners and slides, despite paying extra for a 25-year warranty. Now we are being told to deal directly with the supplier, which is not acceptable. It feels like we paid a significant amount of money, only to be left with the impression that our problems are not their concern. In summary, the product and customer service have been subpar. I wanted to share this with you in the hope that we can address these issues and prevent similar experiences for others in the future.

Euro review
We bought an outdoor Euro Alfresco kitchen (to go on to a new pool deck) at Harvey Norman – but the problem is not with Harvey Norman, but with Euro. (1) After we paid the deposit on an $18000 outdoor kitchen, we were told that Euro would not even start to build it until the pool deck was built (which would be several months away). The supposed reason was to make sure that the kitchen would fit on the deck and the deck would be strong enough to hold it. This was despite us sending Euro the architectural plans and the engineering plans (and we had designed and engineered the deck to hold this kitchen as well as a clay pizza oven). Euro just completely refused to budge, even when we offered to pay the full amount up front. (2) Not surprisingly, after the deck was built, the installer came out, took 1 look at the deck and said yep, the kitchen would fit, and gave the go ahead for Euro to start building it. We were told it would take 6 weeks to build because we ordered a “custom built kitchen”. The kitchens are supposedly modular, and we ordered a design from their catalogue without any modifications. (3) After 5-6 weeks, we were told the kitchen was built, but the installer was away overseas on holidays for another couple of weeks. Yep, in a major Australian capital city, they have ONLY ONE installer!! (4) Kitchen finally installed, we had our first BBQ, and it didn’t work properly! Burners were going out within a few minutes in random orders!! We contacted Euro, and they blamed a whole heap of things – wind (this is an outdoor kitchen!), incorrect installation of gas connection (despite the wok burner connected to the same gas supply with the same piping worked perfectly), incorrect kitchen installation (their installer installed the kitchen!). (5) The repair technician came out and confirmed the problem was with the BBQ, and was unable to fix it. He also told us about multiple similar issues with Euro BBQs in Brisbane, suggesting a manufacturing issue. He checked the gas connection again and gas pressure / flow – no problems. (6) The repair technician came back a few weeks later – Euro told him to replace the gas hose!! He actually realised the hose Euro had sent was an inferior quality hose with a smaller regulator and lower flow rate, so he didn’t even bother. (7) It then took a few weeks and multiple phone calls to the repair company – the delay this time was with Euro sending replacement thermo-couple valves which was what Euro wanted to try to replace next. He came out, took the BBQ apart, and discovered that the installed valves were all different sizes!! One of the valves could not be replaced as the valves Euro sent did not fit! The technician replaced the other valves and repositioned them, and that seems to have fixed the problem, for now. (8) And the final thing – the installer couldn’t even hang the cupboard door straight and they didn’t close properly. Emails to the installer and Euro Alfresco went unanswered (and delivery tracking show they were delivered). I managed to adjust the hinges and rehang the doors straight myself.
Their decision to not even start building the kitchen until the deck was completed was unfathomable. The after-sales customer service was just shocking. The technician told us today that they now have 6 Euro BBQs all with the same problem just in the past couple of months, suggesting poor design, manufacture, and / or quality control.

We were told the slab we selected was definitely going to be the slab for our benchtop, but lo and behold, when the cut benchtop arrived and was installed it was the "newer" version of the colour - the one we did not like at all. After an initial (verbal) admission the wrong one was used Banks then decided it was our dodgy eyesight that was to blame - even though both of us saw the slab we wanted in good light in the factory. Every time I walk into the kitchen all I can see is the benchtop that we hate, and needless to say we will never be using Banks again in the future. Please go to the factory and check in person before install that the slab you think you are getting is the one you actually chose because once it is in it will be too late and they will put it back onto you.
