requested $500, leading me to believe it was the hold; instead, they processed it as a non-refundable "Platinum Insurance" fee. They effectively "double-sold" me insurance I already had, disguising a fee as a deposit. Check your contract: if they charge $500 but write "$1.00" in the deposit box, you’ve been had.
Additionally, they have predatory toll policies. Unlike mainstream agencies that cap daily fees, Bargain charges a $5.00 admin fee PER TOLL GANTRY. I was charged $90 in fees alone for $125 of tolls.
Finally, the car was poor value: an old, worn vehicle with over 100,000km and doors that didn't align properly from a previous accident. They charge premium prices for end-of-life vehicles and use fine-print deception to inflate costs. Avoid them and use a reputable global agency.

parties insurance company confirmed their liability, provided written acknowledgement that they would cover repairs, the owners response was “that means nothing” and that he was under no legal obligation to provide a “refund” of my insurance excess deposit, it’s up to his discretion if he returns it, and he’s not inclined to do so.
FULL STORY: “All Age Car Rentals”/“Gold Coast Car Hire”/“Surfers Paradise Rental Cars”
While initially very happy with the business and the owner - the car was affordable and he seemed friendly - we were eventually left very disappointed with the owners conduct and the unprofessionalism of the business.
To begin with Nissan Pulsar provided to us was faulty and the air conditioning/heating fan was jammed off and was not able to be turned off. The owner of this business also has identifying photos of previous clients in his office whom have received traffic infringements, stapled to the wall with statements such as “OUR FIRST IDIOT!”
However, this pales in comparison to the experience with receiving our insurance excess deposit back. We were involved in a minor not-at-fault accident while returning the car. The person who caused the accident happily provided all their insurance details and admitted liability (we were hit from behind whole stopped) and the vehicle was returned. The business held our insurance excess deposit as expected, while the insurance liability was established. This took place 29/03/25
The vehicle was provided to the business’s repairer 07/04/25, where the repairer was provided the incorrect insurance details and contact information (and left unable to repair the vehicle) as confirmed by the repairer in later conversations.
28/04/25 - I attempted to contact the business to ask what was happening and when I could expect to receive my refund. I was informed that he had no idea what was going on, would follow it up and return my call the following day. A call which was never received.
29/04/25 - Subsequently, I made contact with the at fault party and their insurance company confirming that they had accepted liability. This information was relayed to the business and I was advised that he would check with the repairer, and get back to me.
09/05/25 - I made contact with the business, asking for a status update and was informed again that the vehicle was with the repairer and he didn’t know the status but would check the following morning and get back to me
10/05/15 - I followed up with the business that afternoon was told that he had been trying to contact repairer “all morning” but that the repairer wasn’t answering his phone and wasn’t working. I requested the name of the repairer, and immediately made contact with the repairer myself. The repairer provided me photos of the information that had been given to him with the car, showing that it did not include the correct insurance contact information but that he had attempted to make contact. I contacted the correct insurance company, got the contact information, provided it to the repairer and he immediately sent it to the insurer.
12/05/25 & 13/05/25 - After spending several hours on the phone with insurance, I was able to receive written confirmation that they had accepted liability from the accident and that they would repair the vehicle. I spoke with the owner of the rental company and advised him of this, to which he said to email him through my account details and he would return the insurance excess deposit.
14/05/25 - Made contact with the owner again and asked the status of my insurance excess deposit return. He told me that the insurance companies written confirmation of liability and intention to repair his vehicle “means nothing” and that he is not legally obligated to return an insurance excess deposit. He advised that in his view, he is entitled to keep any deposit, and that he’s inclined to keep ours - and that if I had a problem with this, I should take it up with the Office of Fair Trading.
This is what I’ll be doing at 9am tomorrow morning, and I am happy to provide the written or audio transcriptions of our communications to any hesitant prospective clients of this business.

Usually, the gas bottle is already provided and you only need to refill it if you use it. That’s totally fine, but it would be better to clearly mention this in advance. I booked the van from Munich to Milan. After confirming the booking, I purchased flight tickets from Milan Malpensa Airport (since Indie Campers’ Milan office is located there). However, at pickup in Munich, I was informed that I had to return the van not in Milan, but in Bergamo. As a result, I had to take a taxi from Bergamo to Malpensa Airport for €226,40 in order to catch my flight. It would be important to clearly specify the correct city — in my case, Bergamo — or at least indicate it as “Milan (Bergamo Airport)”. As a result, I didn’t manage to save on this trip, which is supposed to be one of the key advantages of your service(

9pm and that was the last "shuttle" bus they had. Why as for your flight details if you are not going to really care if the flight is late (and not that long after you left). Might as well book another service as why would you want to take the risk that they will leave you there. Con-X-Ion, do you wonder why the numbers of people booking your service is reducing. Out of my group I was not the only one that had issues. Others had issues such as not being able to contact the service and service not having the correct date of pickup.

Tina was at the airport when we arrived, and chatted with us all the way to the depot. The car was clean and well maintained and perfect for our needs. The prices are great and as they state, we weren't charged any "extras" what we were quoted is exactly what we paid (unlike other car hire). We were picked up in the Gold Coast and dropped of in Brisbane after hours without issues. The Service is so far above the big car hire companies I wouldn't recommend anyone else for a trip to the Gold Coast. If I could rate 10 stars I would! A big thank you for a seamless hire!

"I hope you enjoyed your recent trip with Adrian on reservation 35103658. I'm following up about an issue that's come up. During your reservation, you incurred a parking fine on 7/Aug/2024 evident with the fine notice uploaded by your host in trip photos. As the offence carries a financial penalty we've charged your card on file $151.82 (including a 3% processing fee)."
This was over 6 months ago, and at no stage whatsoever was I informed about any alleged fine. I literally have no idea of when, where, how much the fine was, what the fine was for (there are many different types of 'parking fines'), who issued this fine or even an infringement number. The host and Turo had all my details, my full name, phone number, address, and licence number, and they would've had the option to nominate me as the driver. I have been provided with no information, evidence or the opportunity to even contest the fine in court (if it really exists). I've reported this with my bank, and will also be contacting Consumer Affairs and the ACCC.

everything about the pickup and dropoff was easy to understand, especially out of hours. The customer service we received was pretty great. Our van had character that's for sure, but we loved him, and did a great job at taking us from Sydney all the way to Brisbane.
Do note that you need to provide your own bedding as we missed that and had to make a run to a store on the first day.
