The only tricky thing is trying to find the people to hire it from I first drove past OTR and saw trailers so I googled OTR trailer hire but there's no such thing I then rang to book one and that's not possible because it's run by move yourself and not OTR I soon learnt I need to book it online through move yourself.

advertising suggested. Our guide Leon @ the local specialist guides were amazing, rearranging times to do certain activities to increase our enjoyment by less crowds or more activity at locations. Leon came to my rescue at least twice, once on the Great Wall (advertising says ascend to the Wall by cable car, but no, only a fraction of the way and many uneven, steep steps to reach your goal) so worth the huge hike, Leon stayed with me on the trip down, lending his shoulder on the uneven, big steps or steep sections. I unfortunately developed a condition later in the trip requiring antibiotics, dear Leon arranged a trip to a great hospital & hung in as interpreter so much easier than a translation app. There are a few hidden extras such as porter age charge for the bullet train but it is optional but oh so much easier, even extra once for a shuttle. Overall it’s a great trip and the itinerary ensures you see as much as possible, just be ready for huge long days averaging over 14,000 steps, lots uphill & stairs; lots of time on the bus due to distances & the same on trains but 1st class booking (included) made these very comfortable.

The hotels were all top notch & the upgrade to the Tibetan Hotel was a real treat.

did. As a Klook Gold Member, I have completely lost confidence in this platform due to two major systemic failures on my recent trip.

1. Allowed Booking on a Closed Day (Forbidden City) Klook's system allowed me to book a tour for a Monday, completely trusting that their platform provided accurate availability. Upon arrival at the meeting point, my family and I were shocked to discover from our private driver that the Forbidden City is permanently closed every Monday year-round as a fixed rule. It was not a ticket availability issue—it was a total operational closure. We had to call the local operator ourselves to confirm. Klook gave zero advance warning, completely ruining our travel itinerary for the day and causing massive frustration. To make matters worse, their customer support went completely silent when we tried to get it resolved.

2. Absurd Charges and Withheld Refund for an Infant Klook failed to verify local venue age limits and incorrectly charged me for my infant during the booking, despite me providing his date of birth. I had to discover on-site that children under 7 get free admission when the entry staff didn't even need to scan the infant's passport. When I demanded a full refund, Klook actually withheld a portion of the money, absurdly claiming the fee was for "wireless headphones and guide explanations." Forcing a headcount charge for a non-verbal infant who cannot physically use headphones or understand a guide defies all common sense and fair consumer practice.

I originally posted this warning directly on the Klook app, but they simply rejected it to hide their system failures. Since they are actively suppressing negative feedback on their own platform, I am posting this here to ensure other travelers are warned.

The errors lie entirely within Klook’s faulty system data and poor merchant coordination, yet the burden of chasing them for over two weeks has been pushed onto me. Their competitors offer far more reliable support. Save your time, protect your itinerary, and book elsewhere.

It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and momentum, but at that point you’re being asked to pay before you really know if the service can go ahead.

The reality is that once you’ve paid a deposit, you don’t know how your circumstances might change. Visa outcomes, health issues, or life events can all affect whether you can proceed.

When that happens, this is where GWT’s approach causes the most stress. You can find yourself stuck with credits that aren’t actually usable in your situation, and no realistic way to get your money back. In practice, you end up out of pocket and carrying the financial risk.

Trying to resolve things afterwards is also difficult. It often turns into long back-and-forth communication with no clear outcome. Where there’s disagreement about what was said or agreed, there isn’t clear access to the underlying information needed to properly verify it, which makes it very hard to challenge their position.

Looking at other reviews, this doesn’t appear to be a one-off. A similar pattern comes up repeatedly. Once payment has been made, the incentive shifts and the risk sits with the customer, not the company. That naturally affects things like how suitable or well-aligned placements are.
