in the 5 months we've had her. The claims process is exceptionally easy and claims are sent to your bank account very quickly (generally 24 hours for us if it's a work day). The online vet service is fantastic, we've been able to connect with a vet within a few minutes to gain advice. The vets we have spoken with have been friendly, non judgemental and very helpful! Highly recommend PIA.

had as pet owners. We found out she was diagnosed with epilepsy. It was heartbreaking and overwhelming, especially knowing she may need medication and ongoing care for life. Thank goodness we had Petsy. Knowing Harley’s treatment and ongoing medication could be covered gave us real peace of mind at a time when we were already worried enough. The claim was easy to submit and paid VERY quickly, but what really stood out was the customer service. The team were kind, helpful and genuinely caring. It didn’t feel transactional at all, it felt like we were dealing with people who understood how much Harley means to us. We’re incredibly grateful we chose Petsy.

very long time. In the end, I couldn’t even claim back one dollar for a general health check. As a customer who has paid premiums for so long, I expected a smoother process and at least some support. Unfortunately, this experience made me feel like the insurance wasn’t worth it. I'm trying to cancel the insurance but seems very difficult. I hope the company can improve the claims process and be more transparent about what is actually covered.

overrepresented in this breed and I have lost 2 Shephard's previously to the condition. My wife and I had travelled from the Gold Coast to Helensburgh near Sydney to visit one of our sons and took 2 dogs along. On the day following our arrival I noted Solomon seemed lethargic in the afternoon after being very normal late morning and I checked his gums for sign of snake bite and then his stomach for potential GDV, His stomach was bloated and I could feel the twist. We rushed him to the ARH Emergency Vet Hospital in Wollongong and they triaged Solomon on arrival and prepared him for surgery. The staff who were brilliant assisted with contacting Guide Dogs and within minutes, we had pre-approval for the treatment. This rapid outcome was the best news along with the ARH surgeons quick assessment and I left the hospital with the confidence that I didn't need to worry about the cost or the level of treatment Solomin would receive. Solomon's had 4 days in intensive care and pulled through and is now recovering at home on the Gold Coast. He was discharged from the hospital in a very seamless process and all I needed to do was cover the gap.
I changed to Guide Dogs after a rejected claim from another insurer when Solomon was 7 months old and have been with Guide Dogs ever since (he'll be 8 in June) for multiple pets and this isn't my first claim with Guide Dogs.
If you are shopping around for an insurance option for your pet, I'm more than happy to recommend Guide Dogs.

a cap on rebates to me so to speak. My dogs aren't on the same policy so I should receive identical rebates to my thinking. After all I'm not the patient the dogs are. If im not getting identical rebates on an identical policy I should be getting a %age discount on the 2nd policy as that pays back less. At $200 a month i expect same rebates on identical policies. I may well change one dog to another insurer to get a higher rebate. Resolution of claims is quick but unequal in value considering I pay the same price for both.

we went through the process of scans and tests, hospitalisation and most recently euthanasia at home. I was charged an additional 35% age excess because my cat was 10 (not massively old for a cat, many live to late teens!?). They wouldn’t even cover the humane euthanasia, even though my cat wasn’t able to defecate in the end and the euthanasia vet agreed it was time. To add insult to injury, the last claim I submitted for the tests and scans- they took off $900 for future policy charged for the next year (so my dead cat is now covered for insurance for the next 10 months). I found an article dated 2014 when (then called) PetPlan bowed down to public pressure after an investigation on unfair policies and agreed to not charge people for dead pets. No other pet insurer, not even Greencross Healthy pet plan, charge once an animal dies. This is a disgusting last ditch money grab in a time of grief. And after paying the policy for 11 years, I’m disgusted in their lack of compassion. They didn’t even send a condolences comment in their letter advising me of unpaid claims and the charge for future policy costs … this despicable company just sent me the bill. Not only that, they are also the only pet insurer (per my vet) that won’t let the vet claim on your behalf- so you can just pay the gap- you have to pay the vet in full, submit the claim yourself, and wait for them to (NOT) pay the claim, after having to get invoices, clinical notes, etc from every vet - considering most serious issues can involve more than one vet, emergency service, specialist, euthanasia vet etc… this is an arduous process (especially when you just need to grieve). No reply to my complaint as yet… let’s see if they ghost me…

we had cover made a huge difference. The gap-only claim process was incredibly straightforward, and instead of facing a massive bill, we were only a few hundred dollars out of pocket. Because cost wasn’t a barrier, we were able to say “yes” to the tests, treatment, and overnight care he needed, without hesitation or stress. The peace of mind that came with knowing he could receive the best possible care was invaluable.

gold was $1,000 a year in GST. 2nd year auto-renewal (I missed) rose to over $1,600 in GST Who does a 60% increase? Year 3 they tried to renew for over $2,000 incl GST. When I called to cancel they offered a discount on the excessive $2,000 and bonus free months. No company can explain these increases by keeping up with CPI increases and even allowing for your pet ageing. If you pet lived to 10 years you would be up for $20,000 +. Yopu're better off finding the cash, even with vet bills being so high.

you've paid the vet bill), but it is now grossly overpriced.
Our annual insurance for one of our dogs increased from $1836 to $2558 (a 39% increase) in a single year, for insurance than only covers up to $12,000 worth of vet bills. RACQ's explanation for this is that insurance costs increase as dogs get older, and they assure me that they are absolutely unable to do anything about the cost of their insurance.
Meanwhile, another insurer can provide insurance for the same dog for $830 covering most of what RACQ covers, and that policy would cover up to $20,000 worth of vet bills, which leaves me wondering why I would stay with RACQ, or ever suggest to others that they should use RACQ.

back denying claim for $1930. because somwhere on page 20 something of the PDS they only cover very limited illnesses. I found other insurers with wider coverage and am going with them check specific illness cover first. Also: Limited Coverage Options: Routine care, dental, and preventive treatments are not included in standard policies and may require higher-tier, more expensive plans. Upfront Payments: You usually need to pay the vet bill upfront and wait for reimbursement, rather than having the insurer pay the vet directly.
