It took them over four months to repair minor damage to my vehicle, during which their complaints team completely ignored my repeated follow-ups, and I discovered that their "comprehensive" policy shockingly fails to provide a no-fault hire car. To make matters worse, despite my 20-year clean insurance history, they issued me a formal "refusal to renew" letter more than a month after my policy had already expired. Even though I had no intention of staying with them, this delayed non-renewal goes on my record, making it incredibly difficult and expensive to secure coverage with other insurance companies. Do not be fooled by the low prices—the severe lack of coverage and the damage they cause to your insurance record are simply not worth the savings.

policy, took over $1,000 out of my account a week later and refused to payback premiums paid AFTER I had sold the car because the proof of transfer that i got DIRECTLY from Queensland Transport was deemed 'insufficient proof'. Whats worse, there is no phone number, just an AI Chat bot which refuses to get somebody to call you and merely advises somebody will review with 2 business days'. Nothing but a bunch of common thieves and scammers. Avoid at ALL costs!

instead and sit on hold for ridiculous amounts of time. Which you will then be met with frustrating scripts being read out to you on the other end of the call without someone helpful actually answering questions or concerns clearly. Then if you don’t like that they ask you to call instead, they end the online chat and reset you. Nice work. They make the simplest of requests seem impossible. Have cancelled all but one policies with them, about to do the final and not return.

nightmare trying to get a police report. It took over an hour, and the police never even showed up. Meanwhile, my car was left out in the rain, water leaking inside. I had to secure the door myself and go to the police station to file a report and do everything I could to get support from the insurance.
No help ever arrived.
The offender was never identified, even though there was CCTV pointing directly at his car. Two years have passed and nothing has ever been resolved. I ended up having to pay the excess out of my own pocket, and since December 2024 my emails have been completely ignored. I never found out who did it, and I never received any reimbursement.
With this kind of service, this company doesn’t live up to its reputation.
Unlike Qantas.. the one time I needed support, everything was resolved over the phone in under an hour.
Forget NRMA. There are much better options available.

to have a rework done and it has now been 6 months from when I first contacted Shannons. We are a long time customer with multiple vintage cars and spending an absolute annual fortune on car insurance. "Back in the day" they were awesome, but now.... The policy isn't worth the paper it is written on, especially if you have a rework done. I have begged, pleaded and tried everything including contacting AFCA/ATSIC. I was even told by their own staff to contact AFCA/ATSIC!!! I have spent more hours than I can count on hold waiting to talk to someone including over 20 phone calls, and emails, and sms's to the person allocated to my case, told countless lies, fob offs and finally after 6 months I have an answer and it's not a good one either. I am totally over Shannons and I can't believe they have totally gone to the dogs with their service.

transferred it to WA, costumer service asked for a proof that the WA car is the same as the one that was registered in Victoria with vin number and engine numbers on it, I have forwarded them document from vicroads with all the information needed , but still they don’t want to issue a refund, my families car is all insured by GIO I will tell them to move to AAMI much better costumer service, GIO costumer service is worst…avoid them
