started getting dental pains that escalated rapidly. They told my surgeon and hospital that this was all covered - 2 days before they say that this is not covered as it is a pre-existing condition. It is not. I've paid about 10k out of pocket for everything and I am only claiming for $1500 as this is only what's covered.
Been fighting them for five months have filled in six forms and still chasing a resolution from them. Have submitted letters and refferals from dentist to say this is whats up and they're saying they need to speak to this person and that - and saying they need records that don't exist.i submitted written letters from the dentist and surgeon and still they slither.
Do not use this company for hospital cover - extras are good but no digital cards. This tactic apparently is quite rampant for these guys as they try and fatigue valid claims to the point they drop it.
I was warned by people that these guys pull this and I thought they seemed good, should have listened.
Shifted across to AHM now. Congrats guys you kept your $1000, but you've lost out on so much more from premiums. I'm not chasing them up for money - but will make sure this is investigated, because if I was in a worse situation this could have screwed me over hardcore, especially as I am more than entitled. This preying on the vulnerable has got to stop.

This situation has caused me significant stress and financial hardship. I am currently facing substantial medical expenses, including upcoming eye surgery, and in the current cost-of-living climate every dollar matters. Due to personal circumstances, I do not feel comfortable asking my mother to return the funds as it was her birthday this weekend and I was unable to fly out due to being sick. I’m not going to now ask her for money?
I was also disappointed with the response I received from your representative, who appeared to take little accountability for the error and offered no meaningful assistance or resolution.
My family has been with Westfund for approximately 15 years, however this experience has seriously impacted our confidence in the company and has led us to discuss cancelling our policy.

to the reputation espoused at the time. Staff have been extremely helpful, knowleagable and prompt in their service. TUH offers a range of options suited to personal needs. Their rates are very competitive. I do recommend their fund. One thing people who transfer need to keep in mind is that while waiting periods do not apply provided you have served the prerequisite terms with your old fund, however the "loyalty" benefit tiers need to be served before you can receive the extra limits that apply.

recently I had a hospital admission and submitted my claims soon after. These people give me the runaround constantly. They blame Medicare, Medicare blames them and then they both blame the provider and the only person that suffers me. I’ve spent over two hours on the phone with them in the past week and each time someone has given me a different answer or reason to why my claim is being held up. They make dreadful errors at my expense and when you email them to try to find out what’s going on, they either ignore you or respond with a single line and you are no better informed than you were previously. I will be getting out of this health fund as soon as I possibly can. Please think very carefully before joining them because if you need to make a claim, they will not pay it and they will make mistake after mistake and you will be chasing your tail for months on end until you finally give up because they wear you down. I outlaid $36,900 for a procedure and so far I have received $900 back. I pay top hospital cover. That is an absolute disgrace.

my old Health Fund and after 3 months I get a notification that my premiums are going to be as if I have never held Private Health Insurance as HCF WON"T release a previous cover certificate. After a phone call and no excuse why the delay or refusal, I was issued with a certificate after refusing the 24 - 48 hour period to generate one as I need pain assistance on my knees. I now have to wait another week for my new Health Fund to process this certificate which is ridiculous as they also informed me upon rejoining that "we take care of everything" which has turned out to be inaccurate. Not happy Jan!!!

policy some 12-16 months ago to see whether it was still fit for purpose we were advised by La Trobe customer service that the policy we had was: * no longer available, * better than available covers and worth keeping. No mention was made of the fact that our policy would make us liable to the Medicare surcharge. We followed the advice received and kept our Gold Top Hospital Cover. This year, we received a letter from the ATO stating that we did not hold an appropriate level of private patient hospital cover and that therefore we were liable to pay $2,036 Medicare surcharge. When contacted La Trobe about this and received no satisfactory response regarding their failure to advise that the policy they suggested we keep would result in us having to pay the Medicare surcharge. This incompetence has caused us to have to pay in excess of $4,000 that we would not have had to pay had the proper advice been received from La Trobe if we had been given the information to allow us to choose the appropriate cover. We have now cancelled our policy and moved to another insurer that provided us with the comprehensive information required for us to make an informed decision. Conclusion: do not rely on the customer service received from La Trobe as you run the risk of getting incomplete, inadequate and defective advice likely to be costly. Best to move elsewhere.

to a new policy that meet my specific needs?" I found out the hard way that NIB show no compassion and just keep taking my premium each month even though I no longer have the critical cover I need. They then insist I have to wait 12 months on the new policy to make a claim for the critical item I thought I'd been paying for. To add insult to injury the premiums for the corrected policy would have been less than what I paid, and they still won't budge on the 12 month wait. Think twice before choosing NIB!

Several minutes later the chat cancels my request and said it’s been taking too long to respond. What the heck…..they take to long to respond and then cancel the chat.
