possible. The Auswide ATM machine took $502.50 of mine and gave me nothing at all. This was at 4.58 on a Friday afternoon leaving me without a cent to survive on. I returned first thing Monday and asked them for my money back politely and was told quite rudely and dismissively that it was nothing to do with them as I was not their customer. Now I'm not lawyer but I would have thought the $2.50 they took from me made me their customer. So I asked them for the number of the company that supplied and maintained that machine so I could contact them directly to find out how long before they returned the money they stole from me. Why is that too much to ask. It is now the following Wednesday and despite re-asking I still know nothing and I have nothing to feed my dog and very little to eat but 2 minute noodles until Friday week if they don't return my money. I cannot pay rent or fill out prescriptions for my heart medications. It is getting very close to the time when I'm forced to take direct action myself and go in there and take it back by force. The alternative is homelessness, medical problems or perhaps death. Going to prison for robbing them sounds like a pretty good alternative to me. And I guarantee from here on I will actively do my utmost to destroy Auswide bank every way possible. Starts Friday. I bet they call the cops n expect their money back quick smart. Hope they don't expect any assistance from me. I will burn every cent before they get anything back. I know how ATMs work. They are self balancing and they would have known first thing Monday morning that I didn't get paid. They gonna learn the hard way n I will make so much noise it will cost them dearly I swear. They are very greedy but not very smart. I'm doing a Current Affair interview on Friday. They will be sorry I guarantee.

maybe later today or tomorrow. I had only recently opened the account and had made no transactions.
I was unsatisfied with this response, so I requested to close my account. I was transferred through to the cards team (waited on hold again) and then was advised they were unable to close my account unless I completed and returned a form.
I explained due to complex health reasons that I was unable to do this. I was told “this is the process.” I requested to speak to a supervisor. This was denied. I was then placed on a hold and the person I was speaking to came back to advise that I would definitely need to complete and return the form.
It was then pointed out to me that I had verified my ID earlier today (which I did with substantial support). I then asked whether assumptions were being made about my capacity to which I advised there was not. Why mention it at all then?
She then asked whether I can fill in the form, when I had clearly stated earlier that I could not. I again told her no, I cannot.
I was then advised again that I would be placed on hold.
After waiting on hold for another 30 minutes or so I eventually ended the call.
Why are alternate closure processes not supported by this bank for people who need it? Why are assumptions made about people’s capacity?
I was humiliated by this whole process and I have since changed banks.
I have seen responses to other negative feedback here and if you provide contact information for me to follow up with, I want to say in advance I will not be contacting you. I have wasted enough time and energy on trying to do something that should be a simple process and I have been distressed by this whole process.

based form instead of doing the application online. But during that entire 3 months they were making the assessment and asking me for documents - then telling me they need to restart the assessment with a paper based form. This should be notified on day 1 of receiving the application. They also told me initially that I will get the previous days rate (when I made the application the rates went up). After the 3 months of stalling they told me they werent going to give me any special rate anymore - I think this is why they stalled. I made a complaint and someone called me and admitted they've made a mistake but there is nothing they can do. Which is obviously untrue as a bank can just offer a lower rate if they're also trying to rectify their mistakes. BIG WASTE OF TIME.

immediately contacted the bank and explained that the funds were needed for essential expenses, including rent, food, and an important payment due that day.
Despite explaining my circumstances, I was not given access to any of my own money, not even enough to cover my rent payment. While I understand banks may need to conduct reviews, I was disappointed that no practical solution or temporary access to funds was offered for basic living expenses.
This was my first experience using Bank First, and it was especially disappointing because the bank had been recommended to me by family members who have been customers for years, including holding home loans with the organisation. Based on my experience, the customer service and handling of the situation fell well below my expectations.

bought this to the attention of Rabobank complaints but they did nothing to remedy the issue. Issues do happen but it’s the way in which these matters are handled and resolved that is important. Due to the way Rabobank handle this issue and little regard for fairness I have subsequently closed all my accounts with Rabobank (personal and superannuation accounts). The money they would have made from me well into the future has now been lost forever. There are so many other banks with an up to date banking system that won’t put you in the situation I found myself (losing thousands of dollars).

funds. I WAS WRONG.
I did everything correctly and spent an hour on the phone providing all information and identifying dozens of fraudulent transactions. Got an email the next day saying "Thanks for reporting $100 worth of fraudulent transaction, we've sent you $12 back as a gesture of good will." Ummm, ok?
I called again, typical fake corporate response that translated to "I'm really sorry but the last person didn't do their job properly so yesterday you wasted an hour of your life talking to a soulless corporation... well guess what we're going to steal another hour of your life from you by doing it all again." Spent another hour on the phone literally going through the exact same process, providing the same information and identifying the same transactions that I'd done the day before.
Time is the only finite resource in this world and I watched an hour of my life literally melt away as some minimum wage call centre drone repeats something that should not have had to be repeated.
Weeks later and Greater Bank has sent me about $50 back, with Visa refunding about $450 directly and the remaining $1300 or so still missing. They are legally required to return these funds unless they have evidence that I am responsible for the transactions, and I've literally never used any of these merchants so I don't know what evidence they have that's stopping them from doing what the law requires.
I received one email then it's been complete radio silence from Greater Bank... no proactive communication, no update on what's happening, no response to my multiple emails asking for action, just an expectation that I'll sit back and somehow live with literally no money while they faff about delaying something they know they are inevitably required to do under australian law.
I called yesterday (30 days since the fraud) to enquire and was just told "The merchant has 45 days to respond" despite the single email I received at the beginning of the process saying they have 30 days to respond. It took 40 minutes on the phone for them to tell me "Sorry we can't do anything, we don't care, it'll be at least another two weeks."
Honestly the experience wasn't BAD, just hopeless.

rural location and spent 3 hours driving to Coffs Harbour only to discover the StG branch had just closed and the service, now co-located with Westpac, refused to see me without an appointment. OK, so I decided to try the Armidale branch next time, as that is only a 2.5 hour drive for me, but I decided to book at appointment in advance to avoid disappointment, again...
Why do I need to visit? My recently deceased mother had a small amount of money with StG, and I need to create an "estate account" and, to do so (other than already sending reams of information via an email, as directed by the bank) I have to also visit a branch in person to create a new account, despite already having access as a former enduring power of guardianship.
So, can I speak to a human at the Armidale branch to make a booking? No. Can I speak to a human on the centralised St George phone line? No. Do any of the Copilot recommendations on strategies to book an appointment on their website work? No. Does the StG website have usable links or functional navigation? No. I have spent an hour going through insane circular dead ends trying to follow the impossible advice the bank has given me and I just get nowhere. I compare that to CBA where, I can rock up, join a short queue, and then receive prompt, accurate and courteous advice. Really, why would anyone, ever, have anything to do this this unprofessional, incompetent and Kafkaesque institution?

I waited on the phone for 1 hour and 04 minutes, during which my call was transferred between five different staff members. Despite all this time and multiple handovers, no one was able to resolve my issue, and by the end of the call, nothing had been rectified.
The level of service was unacceptable. The staff I spoke with did not appear to have adequate knowledge of the products and services they are responsible for supporting. This lack of expertise caused unnecessary delays, frustration, and a complete waste of time.
I have submitted this feedback as a formal complaint as well. Due to this ongoing poor experience, I am now seriously considering moving all my business accounts to another service provider.

Sorry says the teller - "driver's licences are not an acceptable form of ID"- funny how it was what I used when I opened my accounts 40 years ago, when I applied for a housing loan etc BUT apparently it's no longer "Valid ID" Drive home to get my passport. Back to the branch. Takes 3 people to get my ID verified and another two to restore my online access.
