If you choose Burbank make sure you factor in a minimum of $100K extra for inclusions/upgrades as this takes place after you have paid your deposit. Also know you will likely be forced to purchase solar (you cannot transfer any existing panels) and they only use Chromagen who do not coordinate/design their system with Burbank properly despite charging more than twice market rates.

after narrowing down because of the quality and guarantee for a quicker build with clear timeframes. At the moment we have just completed pre start.

Fairhaven also has amazing great range of standard inclusions and also generous cat 1 items and we found the upgrades to cat 2/3 very reasonable and cheaper than anticipated but stuck with cat 1 for a lot of things. They were also super accommodating to our floorplan and the many changes we had to suit our needs! Whereas a lot of builders (volume) that we contacted did not want to or simply couldn’t for what we needed. We are building the Tahlee 28 (with room extensions and extra linens) We ended up going about 100k more than base cost price which included upgrades for almost everything, big extensions, a raked ceiling, site costs etc.

The final cost wasn’t to much more/ the same as other builders quotes which was great, and I think for the quality it will make a big difference. Walking into the display homes compared to some of the other big builders you can just tell even from cat 1 products how big the difference is with brands they use in terms of quality.

I also really liked how clear fairhaven was with orientation, insulation and other very important things that aren’t talked about much or at all with other builders I enquired with.

Everyone I spoke to was super fast in replying and very informative. Our sales consultant was great and even let us know about hidden costs that we might not have been aware of (in any sort of building project) like gas connection for our estate which I see some people get caught out on in facebook groups.

Fairhaven were so kind and understanding, when we were looking at finalising the floorplans in October my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The team was so lovely to deal with and gave me so much time to come back to completing the project with no extra costs. We ended up finalising everything in January, signed early Feb and did colour in early March. Our site start is start/mid May and we are very excited to get the house up as quick as possible so we can move closer to dad.

Initial planning phase was excellent. We made numerous changes and relied on some advice of our consultant. We built the Garland 33.

Once the contract was finalised and signed, our site prep started pretty much straight away. We were kept well informed through the build phase and our site supervisor was always contactable when we needed it. We had a few minor issues through the build, but our site supervisor was open, honest and listened to our concerns.

We have now been in the house for 6 months and have minimal maintenance issues. When we have contacted them post build, they have followed up with us straight away.

sales consultant, Leigh Shoebridge, at the Minta display. He was approachable, responsive, and patient with our questions. He accommodated several plan changes along the way, which made the early stages straightforward and well-managed.

Construction started in April 2025, and we received the handover in February 2026. Throughout the build, our interactions with the head office team and our site supervisor were consistent and professional. Our site supervisor, James Unthank, was a key part of our experience. He was reliable, easy to deal with, and always followed through on what he said. He addressed issues promptly and kept us informed, including coordinating with Structerre to update engineering plans where required. His communication and attention to detail gave us confidence during the build.

Like most builds, we had a few anxious moments along the way, but the SJD team responded well to our queries and kept things progressing. Communication from sales through to construction was clear and supportive.

Andy, the construction manager, completed our handover while James was away. He ensured everything was in order and took the time to address minor items, including delays with the cooktop. The team has continued to be responsive even after handover, which reflects well on their aftercare.

Overall, we are happy with the quality of workmanship and how the process was managed. The team has been attentive, professional, and supportive throughout.

90% of those issues were fixed… we had access to our service and warranty page to add requests right up until 3 weeks ago when we had a plumbing system block and sewage was coming up through our 6yr olds shower stall.. i IMMEDIATELY uploaded a request for repairs as urgent but this happened on a Sunday evening and with raw sewage coming up into the home that smelt extremely bad and very toxic for our children we were forced to call an emergency plumber to immediately address the issue. Investigation from plumber was there was a huge build up of solidified paint in the pipes.. so the painters when painting our home washed their brushes and tools down the holes in the floor prior to toilet installation and due to no constant running water caused the paint to dry up in the pipe. Blockage was fixed and we paid $3280 out of pocket mistakenly under the impression due to the nature of the emergency we would be reimbursed by abc/metricon.. WOW WAS I MISTAKEN!!! It took 3 days before our service and warranty agent called us back telling us they would not honour the reimbursement because we didn’t follow correct procedures. Now if we had of waited until they could be bothered contacting up back we would have a home covered in raw toilet sewage.. not to mention the water worms in the toilet bowl GROSS… I challenged then asking how I was supposed to address the emergency without an emergency contact on our portal for out of office hours. And BOOM our portal to report issues shockingly goes out of action.. we have 19 days left on our 90 day service and warranty period and after 15+ emails asking for our portal to be reinstated we are told nothing except that no service requests will be accepted after May 16th… [Name Removed] is our service and warranty contact and I would probably have a better chance contacting Elvis directly before I heard from her.

The home we have is amazing, we are very happy with what we have as long as small defaults and issues are addressed before our service and warranty runs out.

But due to the disregard to my families health and safely in the home these people built for us that cost $1.1m I would 100% NEVER RECOMMEND BUILDING WITH ABC/METRICON… as soon as they got money they have throw us in the bin and don’t give a cr#p anymore.
