Phil and the Simonds team were flexible and accommodating with all the modifications we requested. We never felt rushed or pressured to move forward. Instead, Phil was always patient, taking the time to understand our concerns and requirements, and coming back with practical solutions and clear outcomes. We didn’t expect a showroom consultant to be so knowledgeable, but Phil was highly skilled and communicated clearly across design, stages, and costing. More than the process, pricing, or brand, it was the comfort and trust we had in Phil that made us choose Simonds.

In the next stage, we worked with Emilia from CRC and Saff, our site supervisor. Emilia was always approachable, ready to listen, and quick to provide timely clarifications. and although he was not our original supervisor he gave us his number incase we had any issues post construction. As it turned out there was an issue with a down pipe that had dropped on side of house. We were accused of running it over with a trailer/car which didn’t happen, by Ryan , another supervisor, and were told it would be fixed. It’s been several weeks and nothing has been done. Several messages with eight homes and Ryan have been left and have heard nothing at all. One phone call to Peter and boom!! He has organised a plumber to fix it. Well done Peter. post‑handover, we commissioned an independent inspection (Mar 2026) which identified 43 building defects, including workmanship faults, incomplete works, and multiple compliance issues under the NCC, Australian Standards and VBA tolerances. Many of these defects had already been raised months earlier and ignored.

What made this experience far worse was JG King’s deceptive, dismissive and degrading behaviour throughout the process. Issues were repeatedly minimised or deflected, commitments were not honoured, and interactions with some staff were condescending and adversarial, leaving us feeling blamed for problems clearly supported by independent evidence.

We are being made to fight for basic accountability on an expensive family home. The stress caused by poor workmanship combined with the way we were treated has been enormous.

If you value transparency, quality, and respectful treatment, proceed with extreme caution. Independent inspections and written records are essential if you deal with this builder.

It's been over a year now, after the administration drama the Duos doesn't pick up my calls or respond to my messages. I was with wrong people and wrong timing!!
