has been amazing! We went with a knockdown rebuild through Boutique and it has been fairly stress free. Boutique handled the council, permits, knockdown requirements, etc. It felt very hands-off from my end, yet I was kept informed at every stage and allowed my input as appropriate.

I previously built with another volume builder and had a *terrible* experience at every stage, so I was prepared for the worst. Boutique plesently surprised me. Everything is moving as fast as is reasonable with no issues.

Our site manager has been great with communication and any small issues I see are fixed or flagged before I even get a chance to bring them up. Very thorough and professional.

Like any major project there are always challenges along the way however [Name Removed], our Customer Service Consultant, has handled these exceptionally well. Frequent communication particularly on what has been completed, what was next and timeframes for each step, was done very well and much appreciated. The only real delays we experienced were related to the final construction drawings and a supplier change that impacted some of our internal selections. Both these were managed very well by [Name Removed] and in the overall project whilst annoying, they were relatively minor. Clarendon have great house designs and are very accommodating with customer requested changes. Whilst this is very important to us, the most important aspect is delivery of a quality build at a reasonable price. We are confident based on [Name Removed] and the Pre-Construction journey that this will be achieved.

Jason visited my home and carefully went through every item on my defect list, taking the time to inspect each concern thoroughly. What stood out was his patience and willingness to determine whether issues could be resolved on the spot or whether a follow-up visit would be required. He listened attentively, remembered every concern I raised, and ensured that nothing was overlooked.

Beyond addressing the defects, Jason generously shared practical advice on home maintenance, including tips on managing minor settlement cracks and understanding normal house movement. As a first-time homeowner, I found his guidance incredibly valuable. He even provided additional documents and resources to help me better understand how to care for and maintain my home in the long term.

Jason's support didn't stop after the inspection. He continued to follow up with the relevant tradespeople/contractor to ensure the repairs were completed. the expectation that the required investigations, including soil testing, surveying and accurate costing, would be carried out promptly and professionally. Unfortunately, that did not happen.

After months of delays, there was little transparency about what was actually happening with our file. We repeatedly had to chase for updates, and we still did not have completed soil reports, survey information or a clear explanation of how the pricing had been calculated. Despite this, we were presented with a significantly increased build price that was around $70,000 higher than the original discussions, with no detailed breakdown that adequately explained the increase.

The lack of communication and progress meant we lost valuable time. Eventually we had no confidence that our project was moving forward and made the difficult decision to walk away and engage another builder. As a result, our home build has been delayed by several months, forcing us to continue renting and incur additional costs that could have been avoided.

When we requested our deposit to be refunded, despite the receipt stating it was refundable, this became another stressful process. We ultimately had to escalate the matter through Consumer Affairs Victoria and the Building and Plumbing Commission before it was resolved.

To be fair, the original sales consultant was professional and pleasant to deal with. Unfortunately, the experience after that point did not meet our expectations.

Based on our personal experience, I cannot recommend JG King. Purchasing a home should be an exciting experience, but for us it became unnecessarily stressful due to delays, poor communication, a lack of transparency and the need to escalate matters to recover our deposit. I hope the company improves its pre-contract processes so future customers do not experience the same issues.

modular build. What initially turned us off a slab build was exactly that—the slab itself and the impact it would have on the environment. However, Stroud Homes' Facebook marketing caught my attention, and their home designs felt different from everyone else's.

After reaching out, we discovered they could customise their plans to suit our needs. Following our first discussion with Travis—who is so genuine, honest, and completely open—we learned the house could be stepped down to follow the natural slope of our land. Combined with their generous inclusions package, it exceeded our hopes and dreams.

As our trusty council seemed determined to throw every possible curveball in both our and Stroud Homes' direction, it really highlighted a couple of stars on their team.

First, Sandy (Contract Administration). I'm sure she hears this all the time, but I've cried, laughed, and celebrated with her over the phone. She is absolute gold at what she does—efficient, professional, honest, and personable. Those qualities are hard to come by these days.

Then there's Cam. You only meet him a handful of times during your building journey, but every Friday between 1 pm and 3 pm, you find yourself eagerly waiting for his update. Without fail, he lets you know what has been completed, shares photos of the progress, and explains what to expect over the coming week. Those updates became something we genuinely looked forward to.

The contractors Stroud Homes work with were brilliant and reflected the family-like culture the business has created. During our colour, electrical, and selections meetings, the lovely lady helping us (I'm so sorry I can't remember her name!) was an absolute delight and incredibly knowledgeable. She gave us confidence in every decision we made, leaving very little chance of regretting any of our choices.

Our home is so perfectly suited to the area. It is welcoming, warm, and will be a haven for our family for many years to come.

While Stroud Homes may be part of a franchise, the Wollongong team feels like a genuine family. Every person we dealt with supported us, encouraged us, and guided us through what could have been a very stressful journey. For that, we cannot recommend them highly enough.

can’t do things because it’s too hard or it’s makes the house not an ABC build. We were rushed through this stage and didn’t get to enjoy this building experience. Decisions had to be made within 12 hours or they would make them for us. Many things were missed in our contract and now that we are building, we are seeing it come to life and realise how many things had been missed. ALSO don’t think you will get an email response from anyone until your land is going to be settled. We tried to start our progress in April last year and got barely any responses until August (the month before our settlement) then they will rush you through it all rather than taking the time from the moment you decide to build with them. VERY DISAPPOINTING. However we loved working with [Name Removed] and found she was always so helpful and made our experience better, hence 2 stars.
