Gardeners models and in particular single story three bedroom one. We were able to modify it to our requirements and very quickly were able to engage GJ Gardener to build it. We found the initial meetings with GJ Gardener easy to understand and flexible to our specific requirements. So we went back to the UK. The builder started and we had weekly reports on progress including photos. We came back to Skennars Head 8 weeks before the expected closing date. We had good access to the work progressing. The closing procedure was efficient, We are delighted with the finished product. The house was spotless on closure and we had a valuable handover time. We are totally satisfied with the new house and have found dealing with GJ Gardener to be efficient and easy.

Have consistently raised issues throughout build and post-build, and no-one in this company has the common decency and professionalism to either get back in touch with us or follow through on promises they make. We were verbally promised a visit from a manager which was to occur on Thursday 13/03 to discuss defects. He simply never showed up and hasn’t bothered to contact us since to apologise and/or reschedule. Also still waiting on a call from studio manager in relation to a tapware issue raised on 5th December last year. Despite follow up communication with Construction Co-Ordinator and a request for a site visit, no-one has bothered to get in touch with us.

We know of other people in our area who have had similarly bad experiences with this builder, and wish we had spoken to people in this area prior to selecting this builder and moving to the area. To me, it seems obvious and apparent that trades that have worked on our house take no pride in their work, have no care factor, and are not held to any quality standard by higher management.

This builder has cost us significantly financially, due to the length of time it took to complete build, and continues to take a mental toll on us as we strive to simply get our house finished to an acceptable standard. DISGRACEFUL!!

while most have eventually been addressed, the process has taken several months, with some items still outstanding. Throughout that time, I spent more than 20 hours coordinating trades, providing access to my home, following up outstanding issues, and repeatedly chasing updates.

The biggest frustration wasn't just the defects themselves—it was the lack of proactive communication. In most cases, I only received updates after I contacted Dale Alcock multiple times, and requests for return phone calls from management often went unanswered.

Once the defects were largely resolved, I requested reimbursement or some form of compensation for the significant amount of time I had been required to invest in managing the rectification process. Dale Alcock declined the request without providing any explanation or identifying any contractual basis for their decision.

While the home is now close to completion, the post-handover customer service fell well short of my expectations. Based on my experience, I would not recommend building with Dale Alcock. I hope they take the opportunity to improve their communication, customer service, and defect management processes so future homeowners have a better experience than I did.

We walked in and were immediately struck by the quality of the home and then we met Adam Dorey. He was attentive without being too much and gave us a lot of information packs to take home with us. He also sent us information that night via email. We signed with him two days later on the Friday and paid our deposit. He has answered all our questions when he said he would and has done everything he can to help and support us on this journey (even in his own time). He helped us to design the house with a few tweaks we wanted and was able to give us really great advice about some of our suggestions. importance of building work being completed in accordance with applicable standards, manufacturer requirements and approved installation methods.

My experience dealing with Summit Homes was extremely disappointing. Products were installed incorrectly and not in accordance with the manufacturer’s published installation guidelines. There were also workmanship and finishing issues involving the framing, windows and brickwork. Concerns were raised, phone calls went unanswered, and I ultimately had to arrange independent reports before significant framing issues were properly addressed.

One of the most concerning issues related to a product that had not been installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements. I contacted the supplier/manufacturer directly, who confirmed that the installation did not comply with their installation guidelines and that, as a result, the manufacturer’s warranty would not apply. This was a product that would otherwise have carried a warranty of up to 20 years.

After confirming this, I emailed Summit Homes specifically asking them to provide their own warranty for the product given that the manufacturer’s warranty had been compromised by the installation. They would not provide that warranty.

When I raised that the installation was contrary to the manufacturer’s requirements, the response I received was words to the effect of, “We have been doing it this way for years.” In my view, that is an unacceptable response. Doing something incorrectly for years does not suddenly make it correct. If a manufacturer provides clear installation requirements for its product, those requirements should be followed, particularly where failing to do so results in the homeowner losing a long-term manufacturer’s warranty.

This was not simply a difference of opinion about workmanship or installation methods. I checked the requirements directly with the supplier/manufacturer and confirmed the warranty implications.

Based on our experience, I would not recommend Summit Homes. Once the contract was signed, I felt the level of service and willingness to resolve legitimate issues dropped significantly.

I strongly recommend that anyone considering building with them thoroughly researches the company, obtains independent advice and has the building contract properly reviewed before signing.

Homeowners should not have to commission their own independent reports and continually push for defects and incorrect installations to be investigated and rectified. There needs to be greater accountability in the building industry when manufacturer installation requirements are not followed and homeowners are left without the product warranties they reasonably expected to receive.

The pre-start staff were incredibly helpful, they supported my choices and gave me the guidance I needed to get the most beautiful result for my home, whilst staying within budget. The workmanship and build quality met and sometimes exceeded our expectations. Several trades really stood out, especially the tiling and plastering teams—their work is genuinely impressive, with a level of precision and finish that gives the home a polished, high‑quality feel. Our Housing administrator was approachable and always prompt in response to any concerns raised. We have built a home before, but we are not construction experts, so the recruitment of a building inspector was a very wise investment. We encountered a few minor issues during and after construction, which once identified by our building inspector were rectified without question. I’m sure this is normal for a project of this size, but having a document that records any deficiency or concern did prove to be invaluable. Each time, the company handled things professionally and ensured everything was resolved to a standard we were happy with. Their willingness to follow through made the process less stressful. The final cost aligned closely with the original estimate, and any variations were clearly communicated and easy to understand. That transparency made budgeting straightforward, with no nasty financials surprises at the end of our build. Overall, we’re extremely pleased with the outcome. I was kept regularly updated with progress photos at every stage, and no question was ever too small or silly to get a clear answer. The pre-start process was also smooth and hassle-free. From foundation to lock-up, Status delivered at every step. Our building inspector was excellent, and because of all the horror stories out there, we also hired an independent inspector. Even they were impressed — they could barely find any issues, and the few defects noted were very minor and purely cosmetic. The only delay was about a month due to the terrible weather in August 2025, which was completely understandable. I’d much rather have a quality build that takes a little longer than a rushed, problematic one. PCI was a pleasure as well, and I’m now counting down the days until I get the keys to my very first home! A huge thank you to the entire Status team for such excellent work. Highly recommended!

previously designed and built 3 homes with designers and custom builders and done Major renovations on 2 other homes so we know the building process and challenges pretty well. So far we have been really impressed with the Country builders experience. Our design consultant was Andre Cater. We started with a plan that was remotely similar to what we were after and with Andre’s patient and very knowledgeable assistance we worked on customising the plan piece by piece both inside and out .We had many meetings , Andre had some great ideas and he came to our rural block to get a better understanding of the location and what we were looking to achieve. Changes were costed along the way so it made final decision making a lot easier. Communication throughout the process was excellent and always prompt. Prestart with Katie and Belynda was also a great experience. A great range of products to work with and open to lots of input and queries from us. Knowledge and attention to details were first class. If the build proceeds at the same standard we will be super impressed.
