1997 Subaru Forester with 220,000 km on the clock . It would cost me more than $10000 to get an equivalent replacement if such a thing existed. I purchased this insurance based on reviews. Not the ludicrous reviews stating how easy it was to give my money to the Insurance company but the reviews on how fairly and rapidly claims were processed. Insurance no matter how cheap or expensive have no value if claims are rejected. When you have a flash car and are dripping with money comprehensive insurance would be the norm. The poorer you are and the trashier your car you drift towards the more affordable 3rd party Fire and Theft policy. For some bizarre reason with Seniors Car Insurance 3rd party Fire and Theft is more expensive than comprehensive. My brain hurts. I went through the online assessment for a quote but just to be sure I rang SCI. A nice pleasant person offered me the same policy as the online policy but at a significantly higher price. Wierd??. Try not to ring SCI. The endless description of what a bad person you are and what will happen to you under their Legal System makes you want to kill yourself just to deny them the pleasure.

professional modifications, including a certified 3500kg Lovells GVM upgrade, a 340Ah triple lithium power system, and high-end touring gear like a CampBoss Fusion rooftop tent and Rhino-Rack Backbone system. Despite providing itemised evidence of these modifications, Toyota Insurance insisted on an Agreed Value that significantly under-represented the total build. This would have left me with a massive coverage gap if the vehicle were written off. I attempted to engage with their team via email to provide a full schedule of modifications and request a manual valuation. Instead of a personalised response or a phone call to discuss the build, I was simply met with automated renewal reminders that completely ignored my concerns. It is clear that their system is not designed to handle "real" 4WD builds or GVM upgrades. If you have extensive custom work, you are likely massively under-insured with Toyota. I have now moved my business to a specialist insurer who actually recognises the full replacement value of my vehicle. I will not be recommending Toyota Insurance to any serious tourers or 4WD owners.

short term measure I taped the bumper up so I could drive it to an assessor I rang APIA . I spoke to a pleasant man in another continent ! I had to spell GOLD COAST as he had never heard of it . He advised that he could again check the closest insurer but that was done 2 days ago If he checked the booking I had would be cancelled . So I had a car that would take 8 weeks to get assessed and then weeks to get a new bumper . Do not use APIA ! Finally they wanted me to pay the $1000 excess now !!! This seems to be a rort asking upfront so they can earn interest while I have no car to drive for month

waiting for 2 weeks without an assessment or request for photos while they were "investigating" our claim. We eventually paid for the repairs out of pocket instead of continuing to wait for AAMI. Never again will I choose AAMI as our insurer. They are great at taking premiums and offering tons of promises, but a disaster for claims. I initially convinced all our friends and their families to use AAMI. After this horrible experience, I will now ask everyone to avoid them like the plague. It's a horrible experience when you have suffered trauma, then have to contend with the stresses of chasing up your "honourable insurer" who plays hide and seek. Be warned that AAMI is not what they promise. I am appalled and distressed to have to pay out of pocket for repairs when insured with a supposed premium brand insurer. NotHappy!!!

renewal??? They can't - their answer you query the increase is - "oh well more claims, repair & parts costs increasing, etc etc so premiums go up for everyone!" (oh yeh - and agreed value goes down!) No Claims; Car driven infrequently; parked in lock garage; a low crime area etc. Yes - I'm realistic - pricing on most things, usually does increase (especially when we're stuck with a Labor Govt - dual hit here in Vic - Albo AND Allan) - however how can an increase of 25% in 12x months be justified??? - and unfortunately, Shannon's response is - "oh well, that's the way it is!
Shop around folks - don't be conned by the "enthusiasts' insurance" marketing ploy!!!.......
Oh - and don't get me started on how long you have to wait on the phone (listening to all their recorded rubbish telling you how good they are!!!)

Coles Car Insurance

I just wanted everyone to know how badly Coles treated my 85 year old mother. She received her car insurance renewal in the post, because it was… Read more
significantly higher than last year she called up to stop the auto renewal to give herself time to check out others. She was told she would be charged $12 to cancel the auto renewal. The Coles lady then told my mother that Coles would see what they could do on the price, and that they would call back.
When the lady called back with her improved offer, she asked about all the details on the renewal quote, and the claims history details. My mother said that the two current claims noted (only one at fault) were the two this year but that there were two “no fault” claims in the prior year (no cost to Coles). The lady then went on to accused my 85 year old mother of lying and acting fraudulently by not disclosing the earlier claims. The lady asked why the earlier claims hadn’t been notified, to which my mother replied, they had, and gave the dates of the various letters from Coles she had received on the claims. The lady’s response was that the claims that had been missed off the renewal, as Coles had switched underwriter, so the older claims were not included on the renewal. This is hardly my mothers fault, and at no time had she claimed in any form that there were only the two current claims, it was a simple renewal letter that had the wrong details.
All this was very upsetting to her as she didn't think she had done anything wrong, it was the renewal that had the wrong details. So because their claims history was sketchy, they accused my mother of fraud.
Coles then declined her insurance because of this, even though they had sent her an automatic renewal form. This Decline of Insurance then had to be disclosed on any other insurances she tried to get quotes for, resulting in other insurers then declining the insurance. So all in all, simply because Coles had failed to transfer prior claims from the old Underwriter to the new Underwriter, my mother ended up having problems getting any insurance, as Coles had effectively black listed her by declining the insurance.
Nice job Coles, you failed to properly transfer claims history when you changed Underwriters then black listed an 85 year old, because of your error. She has since cancelled her other insurances with Coles (home and contents) as will I (both car and home and contents).
Absolutely shameful. Please feel free to let me know if you were also affected with this claims history problem, and feel free to cancel your policies with Coles, teach them that they cannot treat anyone this way, especially an 85 year old.
